Travel the World
I used this GPS to navigate a self-drive Safari inTanzania. I programed it with OSM (free) maps for the area ans it got us out of a couple of dodgy situations. Its waterproofness meant that it was unaffected by the ever-present dust and it survived being bounced around on the floor (!) of a Land Rover Defender on horrible washboard rutted roads.I also shrugged off the heat and direct sun. If you are going to use it in a vehicle I can recommend the Garmin vehicle mount as well.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Built like a brick but the best GPS I've ever used.
When I received the Montana I was surprised at its size, it was larger and heavier than I had expected even though I had read the spec. I bought it to replace the Garmin Etrex only because I wanted a larger screen. I've now used it on several walks and have gotten used to its size. It feels quite solid and I'm sure it would survive the odd knock and possibly even being dropped but I won't be testing that intentially. When I switched it on it found signals from GPS satellites fairly quickly even though I was in the house. It does come with the UK and Ireland Topo Lite map which is quite good but I prefer the look and feel of the OpenStreetMaps which were easily loaded. I also use the GPS for Geocaching and the ability to set-up a Geocaching dashboard is great as it informs you where the nearest Geocache is at all times (assuming you've loaded them that is). I also like the fact that it shows the name of the cache and not just the number. Am I happy with my Montana? Yes I am, I wish I'd purchased one earlier.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
