We decided to "cut the cable" and bought an antenna to get the local digital over the air channels. We have two older TV's that are not digital & this converter box works great. It actually brought in more channels than one of our digital TV's did. Easy to install & set up. The included remote also controls the TV volume. Would be nice if it worked properly
This unit was easy to set up and use. However the receiver lacks decent sensitivity. The on screen menus also glitch on certain channels displaying wrong programming info. I ultimately ended up purchasing a Zenith unit. It works well with none of the RCA's issues.Also don't like RAC's signal level is not displayed for specific chanels, only an overall singal level is accessable from the menu.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

When the box arrived it looked brand new like it was never used, was easy to set up,very clear reception I had to scan a few times and got most of the channels with my old antenna, I will need to buy a new antenna to get all the channels, other then that it's works great. No more cable bills!
Great way to get basic TV, News, Weather and Sports coverage for free. Some drawback but well worth elimination of your $50 - $100 cable bill. You will get the same basic News coverage as you receive if you have cable because you will pick up a signal from at least one of the networks, ABC, CBS, FOX, etc. I pick up 63 channels with in inexpensive Clear TV indoor tabletop antenna. No more cable :-)
I bought this to work with my older TV after deciding I was sick of paying for basic cable. At first, I just tried to use my TV with a new flat digital antenna, which worked perfectly with my new HDTV. But, that didn't work with my older TV. So, I looked into things and discovered I needed a converter (like this!) to make it all work. It took me a while to figure out that I needed to have my TV on channel 4 for this to work. Some TV's you need to be on channel 3. After I figured that out I just used the remote 'menu' function to set things up. You also need to be sure that your TV function is set to Air TV and not Cable if you're switching from cable. Now I get more channels than I was getting with my basic cable and the reception is actually better! I noticed that on all of my TV's which are now all using "Air TV". Woo hoo!
