A must have "character" fx processor
If you are thinking of a getting an Alesis Quadraverb for the classic Warp or shoe gaze sound of the 90s, the Alesis Wedge is a much better option. It has very similar if not the same algorithms as the quadraverb, but it is much quieter, easier to program given the large display and sliders and has a very thoughtful page layout. I also prefer the desktop form factor to the rackmount. I'm much more likely to edit parameters with it sitting conveniently within reach.
The bloom and reverse reverbs are awesome, with just the right amount of grit and texture in the tails. But what was really surprising is how good the modulation effects sound. Especially if you tweak parameters on the fly. The wedge is like another instrument. I liked it so much I bought a second one.
Stick with your plugins for realistic room tones and full wet atmospheres, but for character reverbs and in your face modulation, this thing is amazing.
