    Great budget blast cabinet

I've read a few negative reviews of this product and can now share my experience. Some say it leaks, some say it get too dusty inside, some say it doesn't work very well (or at all) at the stated pressures. Mine came unassembled, use sealer when you build it and it doesn't leak.... I chose crushed glass as the medium and it doesn't get any dustier than I would expect (it is media blasting after all!!) Obviously it would benefit from a vacuum being attached but I haven't. As for working, assuming the pick up tube is set up properly, the only issue I found was flashing from the moulding inside the trigger was blocking the suction hole, a few seconds with suitable sized drill bit cured the issue. It now sucks media so well I have to blow it back into the hopper to cover the tube. I'm only using a 1.5hp compressor with a 25ltr tank and it works perfectly well for the size of item I can fit inside the cabinet. So set it up well and chose the right media, for the price point it's well worth it.

  • Most critical review

    Needs modifying.

The cabinet itself is well designed and strong but I had to modify it for my needs. The perspex lid clouds over very fast even with the screens attached. The built in filter clogs within a few minutes. The sand pickup tube is useless as it rises above the aggregate within no time. The lid does not seal so dust escapes all around the edges. I drilled an additional hole to attach a vacuum cleaner, this alleviated the dust problem and also kept the work area visible. I also added my own sand reservoir below the cabinet with a tube entering the cabinet at the side through a grommet. The sand from the cabinet went through the drain hole via a funnel and kept the reservoir filled.

  • Handy

I bought this cabinet so I could clean some motorcycle components and I am happy with it. I will point out that the integrated filter is pretty much useless and lets a lot of dust through so if you don't have a means of extraction then a mask will definitely still be needed. The cabinet is quite small and 50cc engine cases are a struggle so if you need to blast anything bigger you will need bigger cabinet. The blasting nozzle itself is really good and works very well. It's very good value for money and although it is quite small it does the job it is intended for. The polycarbonate lid is quite brittle and will crack very easily if something is dropped on it, weakest spots are the hinges. That said it is light and the only real option. The plastic protective film that covers the polycarbonate is difficult to seal properly so using insulating tape is a must or dust will ingress between the film and the lid hampering visibility. Light is as good as you could expect. Haven't had to change the bulb/strip yet so no comment on that.

  • Tabletop sand blaster

I’ve been using this for a few days and it does a good job except you have to keep moving the sand over the feed pipe every few minutes, also you can’t see what your doing as the window gets covered in sand you really need a vacuum to get rid of the dust so you can see the lid also doesn’t seal very well so dust comes out all over the place other than that it’s a good bit of kit.

  • compact and usable

I was first impressed by the fast delivery, then by the quality and then by how effective it is. I initialy used a fairly small compressor as that was all I had, the cabinet worked fine the only shortcomings being from my compressor. once I got a bigger unit (2.5hp/50l) the system worked brilliantly, providing a constant streem of grit capable of removing even powdercoat. all in all I,m glad I bought it.

  • Modification needed

After using this for the first time I made a few modifications. The first was to add a vacuumed cleaner intake to the cabinet so that I could remove the dust cloud. The next was to change the way the media is picked up. I fitted a 22mm tank connector to the bottom and ran a 22mm copper pipe from here to the side of the cabinet and connected the gun there. I also removed the grid in the bottom as it got in the way. Also because I am left handed I moved the gun connectors to the left of the cabinet. Well after all that it worked well and was worth the effort but don't underestimate the amount of air you need to get good results. A 25 litre tank and 1 1/2 horsepower won't cut it.

  • I didn`t guess how useful these are.

It took a while and plenty reaching about to assemble but these are worth it. I tipped in some sand, connected it up to my compressor and it was doing its job. The sand recirculates so lasts. My only niggle is I should have bought one ages ago.

  • Defiantly Worth it

At this price it's absolutely worth buying. Assembles very easily, fast delivery. As others have said would work far better with a hoover for extraction fitted to keep clear vision of the workpiece, which would be easily done. Glad I brought this. And I'm running a 2.5HP compressor that is easily keeping up with glass bead blasting at 7 to 8bar. I think a 2.0hp would do the job just about aswell.

  • Never again

Very disappointed with this item. Recommended compressor is 5 to 10 cfm, mine has a 150 litre tank and puts out 17 CFM This is just enough to make it work sporadically, I played with it for a whole day and just made a mess, I didn't manage to remove the rust and paint I bought it to remove from a small lawnmower engine. It is now sitting on a shelf and will probably never be used again, I won't sell it as that would be unfair on the buyer.
