My second Andrew James halogen oven, cannot live without it!
It's my third halogen oven, and the second Andrew James one. The original JML one I had was very short lived. The next one, my first Andrew James, lasted for about five years despite being used almost every day. Delighted to find that this new version was available now, with hinged lid. This is a huge improvement, and along with the digital display and quick access menu buttons it has made this machine even more brilliant. The other innovation is the rise and fall lid, enabling you to use the extension ring for a larger cooking space when needed. The last AJ did fail in the end, and in the few days we were left with a convential fan oven we really missed it! It's great value, comes with loads of extras, and it's great for a one or two person household for everyday use, or if you just need to cook a small amount at a time. It works well also when cooking a big meal at Christmas as a back up, giving you extra cooking space as well as a potential alternative temperature to your main oven. It also saves a lot of energy compared to heating and pre-heating a full sized fan oven. I thoroughly recommend it, and would never be without one.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

GREAT IMPROVEMENT ON OLD MODELS
The hinged lid makes all the difference and it's a lot easier to use than having to lift off a boiling hot heavy lid dripping with condensation. I use this Halogen mainly as a grill on the toast setting-5mins at the highest heat. It's ideal for sausages, bacon, crispy grilled potatoes and mushrooms for breakfast. I also put bake-it-yourself rolls, baguettes and garlic bread on the low rack, again on the toast setting, for 5 minutes each side. It's so much less to clean than a big expensive electric grill. I cover the tray I'm using in foil and throw away any fat left behind. The bottom of the bowl only needs a wipe. Occasionally I put a couple of inches of hot water and washing up liquid in the bowl on the wash setting and it comes up like new. I tried a roast dinner once, but I found the bowl isn't big enough for a chicken and lots of vedge. It involved a lot of tin foil and turning to prevent burning even with the extender ring. It might be OK if you cook the chicken separately. It's not worth buying the cheaper smaller models, even for one person. I also liked the spare bulb, most useful.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Brilliant!

Blinding light
The cover for the bulb does not reach the lid and so there is a gap of about 8-10mm. This allows the full glare of the bulb to hit you in the eyes when standing away from the machine.
