Not Quite As Pictured, but, An Extremely Good Value.

I love my new CTC printer. I think it's a great value. My only issues were that it doesn't come quite as pictured. When I opened my box I wondered what two vaguely triangular pieces were. It turns out that they were part of the filament roll holders. My printer only came with one roll holder, (creel). I also noticed that there were no filament feed tubes to route the filament from the rear holders to the extruder mechanism. One other minor issue was that the spool of black PLA they included with the printer was broken, one flange of the spool had a chunk broken off. This really didn't bother me because I knew it could be easily repaired with my medium density cyanakrylic adhesive, and it was. I wrote the sellor about the missing creel and the lack of feeder tubes. I received a prompt reply in broken english that stated the feeder tubes were not included because they jammed the feed too easily. They sent me an .stl model of the creel for me to print one myself, and it printed flawlessly the first time. I did learn from their omission. I've since printed the feed tube holders off of thingiverse, and purchased white ptfe tubes off Ebay for a very low price, but have yet to install the feedtube and siee it my machine will jam. I'm trying to master ABS right now, and there is a bit of a learning curve, but I'm confident this printer will work wonderfully when I get the ABS sticking issues solved for myself. A wonderful thing about this printer is it's simple contruction, and easy upgradability. I'm confident I can fix whatever may go wrong. I've purchased and made rough cuts for acrylic windows. I'm going to add LED liighting on the inside. It's a fun hobby, and an inventive mind can make wonderful prototypes with it. A friend of mine saw my printer and had to have a 3D printer for himself. He bought a Ultibot, for $2500 bucks, it only has one extruder and I don't think it's as versatile as my 400 to 500 buck CTC Makerbot Clone. Get one.. (Be advised. there is a learning curve to all FF 3D printing. The modeling software will probably be more difficult for you than actually using and maintaining your printer)

  • Most critical review

    Definitely not ready to run

I bought this "assembled" printer expecting to just need adjustment due to shipping, and to plug the last few bits together. Well, it was assembled, but most of the screws were loose, and a couple had lost their nuts. I ended up having to take the bottom panel off so I could tighten some of them. The instructions that were emailed when I asked are for a largely similar printer, with kind-of the same accessories, etc... I haven't been able to actually print with it yet, as the dual extruder heads are badly mis-aligned, and I haven't figure out how to align them, nor have I found instructions on HOW to align them. (Well, I've found instructions, but all of them involve adjusting a nut that this assembly doesn't have.) It doesn't help at all that the instructions you can get are all in Jinglish, so you have to try and figure out what they are trying to say.

  • Definitely not frustration free.

I've had this printer for about a week now and I have a few complaints as well as a few praises. First of all, it was packaged very nicely, although during shipping many screws came loose and some fell out. The limit switch in the rear also came unbolted and was not easy to mount. Also, the home position limit switch needed adjusted. When the printing head tried to go home and would not hit the switch it would make a horrible vibrating noise until it hit the switch. Once I got everything tightened up and adjusted I ran into a problem trying to load my filament. I took the printing assembly apart on the right side to find that there was old test filament preventing the new filament from feeding properly. Once again, after everything was clean and adjusted I was able to make my first test print, which turned out great. It was the cube test print. Up until today I've had no issues with the printer, until my prints started to not stick. I checked to see if the print bed was level, and during the leveling process I noticed both print heads weren't leveling evenly with the bed. So I took a straight edge to it and it seems the bed is warped. This will be an issue until i can either get a replacement or find an upgrade (which i was planning on doing anyway). All things considered, and from the reviews I read before I purchased this printer, I got exactly what I expected, which was a few headaches before I could print. I was happy with the quality of the prints I was able to do, and with the noise level of the machine. This printer is very quiet. I will continue my review once I put several hundred hours on the machine.

  • Cheap 3D printer...

Just what it is, a cheap 3D printer. There is so much missing that you have to buy extra just to get it up "almost" standards of a quality printer. Also, the print quality is really not that good. There is no way, even though others have said they were able, to upgrade the firmware. I have not been able to upgrade the firmware and as a result, prints do not come out very well. IMHO, not worth the money. Best to spend the extra and get the real one, not the knock off one. Sorry, just my opinion.

  • pretty good printer

It took a little tinkering (especially if you are new to 3D printing like i was) but now that i have it a bit figured out the printer just hums along on it's own through long or repetitive prints. Snug all the screws and bolts and nuts as soon as you take it out of the box, level the bed and start printing... (You don't need the filament guide tubes)

  • Works great!

I am new to 3d printing and I enjoy designing, especially 3d design. This printer allows me to take ideas and make them into reality. This is great for prototyping and exploration of new possibilities. My young boy has already made suggestions as to what we can build together. It's a really an imagination machine that could help to unlock a child's potential.

  • SOMETHING ABOUT CTC PRINTERS YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT BEFORE YOU BUY

Hello I bought CTC printers from several suppliers on eBay prior to buy it from Super Ink Supplier. After you will read my story you will not consider buy a printer other than from Super Ink Supplier. They are based in the US and their customer support team is quick and they can resolve your issues timely. No matter where you will buy this printer you will have issues due to some substantial flaws. I have bought exactly 5 units from different vendors and I had to return them all. You only want to buy from Super Ink Suppliers this is my reccomendation. If you do buy and upgrade your machine as described below you will have a super precise 4 thousands dollars machine at the cost of 500. All units I bought previously came with basic issues I will describe below: - Mighty-board faulty or missing MOSFET. You must check upon unboxing voltage switch settings on AC power unit. If you live in the USA make sure it is set to 110V. This printer comes with 220V setting by default. In some cases I received the printer mighty board with missing MOSFET transistors or damaged busses. You ask customer support to trouble shoot your. You can buy 24V MOSFET transistors online for this printer easily. LOOK FOR IT ON EBAY - Extruder vertical alignment . All dual extruder come not aligned vertically. You must do this right after you unbox your printer LOOK FOR IT ON YOUTUBE - Extruder slow heating or temperature drops. This is mostly due to a faulty Mightyboard in the worst cases. If this is your case you can have customer support send you a new board. Also it can be caused by 12 Volts cartridges mounted instead of 24Volt once. In this case you will need to replace them. - Various alignment issues. Most of them related to the fact that the housing is made of light wood and allows parts and screws to come loose during shipment. All this issues can be resolved by check printer upon arrival and tight any loose screws. I highly recommend buy upgrades for bearings to increase precision of this machine. LOOK FOR IT ON EBAY - Calibration . Use the Replicator G calibration G code script to calibrate nozzles and alignments - Firmware. For those of you that decide to upgrade bearings I suggest you also upgrade Firmware. This highly increase the quality of your prints and enables your printer to dual extrude flawless. Also increase the print speed to 150mm/sec. I upgraded mine to Sailfish 7.7 Instruction Here ( note you must not have SD card inserted in your machine and follow instruction to the letter. Must be patient never shut down machine before you are complete ): LOOK FOR IT ON YOUTUBE - Plastic Build Platform Arms. I suggest you upgrade with ARM stiffeners if you intend to do high quality prints. LOOK FOR IT ON EBAY - PLA Active Cooling . This is very cool upgrade that allows you to print up to 75 Microns quality. LOOK FOR IT ON EBAY - Magnetic Build Platform. This increase precision and allows you not to have to use take glues and annoying preparations before printing. Is a flexible magnetic build platform that is easely removable from machine after print. LOOK FOR IT ON geckotek3d dot com website Good Luck. THANK YOU SUPER INK SUPPLIER :)

  • Jobs fall off of plate

long-story-short, i got this for my 12 year old son. i am an i.t. mgr and he can write code and hack games at 12. the jobs either cave in or the plate loses it's heat and they move around. it may be because we don't know every facet of printing on this printer and we are experimenting with premade makebot items. it's hit and miss at this point.

  • Great inexpensive 3D printer - but for experienced users

This is not for a newbie, but if you have some experience with 3D printers its a great bargain and will print for hours with little maintenance There will be screws loose, and you have to install the extruder assembly into the carriage, not extremely hard but you need some experience. It will not print straight out of the box. Pros: Cost Build volume Dual Extruders Workhorse of a printer Cons: Instructions poor SD Card had a virus Extruders are not level (4 friends had same issue, and its not an easy adjustment)
