Basic, Solid E-ink reader.
This is an older model B&N nook, with good (not adjustable) contrast and low glare. I purchased because my Mother broke her GlowLight version, I gave her my GlowLight version (since I rarely used the light), and I purchased this as my replacement. Battery life, for some reason, seems a little shorter than the GlowLight version (maybe different size battery); but only going from 100% to 68% in a week of use, the battery life is more than sufficient. Easy to understand interface, and plenty of online tutorials to assist. Setting up for borrowing from public library (via Adobe Digital Editions) might be a bit fussy the first time; it is easy to use after setup and first sync. I stare at LCD at work for 9+ hours per day, so I find E-ink easier on the eyes when reading for that extra 45-90 minutes in the evening. Remember that E-ink experience is pretty much for black-and-white, low-refresh-rate activities, and cannot provide a "tablet" experience. But as an E-reader only, I love this series and the GlowLight series of e-ink readers.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Small reader with clear pages
I've had several Nooks and liked them very much. When I purchased this one I didn't realize that it's only a reader and will not work to check e-mail or go to the web. I was able to purchase a book from Barnes and Noble very easily. One thing I don't like is the page sort of jumps each time I go to a new page in my book. Pleasant to use
Nice book, I enjoy it so far. I have used before only SONY PRS-505, so it would the only reference for comparison. Large screen, big letters, easy to read. Not heavy, convenient to hold in one hand. Decent battery life, can last for a week for 1-2 hours of reading a day. I have not used the B&N library yet, reading my own books. Its a bummer that it does not support FB2, only EPUB, but there are many free online converters. Awesome device!
This is the limited edition Nook simple touch with the white bezel (otherwise identical to the standard NST). Works perfectly, long battery life, was able to root successfully for basic web access to Wikipedia and other text heavy sites, takes a modern class 10 ultra 16 GB micro SD with no issues. I highly recommend one of these, the e-ink screen looks great with little to no glare for long term reading, it has physical page turn buttons that can be remapped with root (for example, my top left is remapped to a a standard "back" button/function, and my top right is remapped to a "home" button function. Works with epubs, pdfs, and even doc file types out of the box, rooting expands this to other formats such as .AZW or CBZ/CBR formats for comics. With the expandable memory card slot, and the freedom of formats, this easily beats most Kindles or Kobo's in it's class. Only the Sony TRS 1 / TRS 2 is comparable, but they are kind of hard to find these days.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

The perfect reader for just reading!
Pros: The screen is sharp, the controls are simple and you just get to concentrate on reading. I carry this everywhere, and often read hours a day. It is easy to hold, with a nice grip and feel. I like the ability to adjust font and margin size. I buy books, get magazine subscriptions, and borrow books from the library. I like not being limited to one online store. Cons: This is my second Simple Touch. The screen slowly failed on my first one, but it lasted 4 years of hard use. The page turn buttons wear out in about a year. But the touch screen works well for all actions even though the screen was loosing pixels daily. The storage for side loaded books is only 340 MB...out of 2 GB. Very easy reading in bright light
