Great camera, don't waste your time on the high priced ones.
I have been using monorail large format cameras for about half a year and this was a big change. However, I figured out how to do most of the movements by myself. It's really easy to take apart to clean (like the lens board, the back, ground glass, bellows). I have not used this as a street camera (which press cameras were used back in the day), but I do use it as my outdoor camera and its ok in weight, but if you are going off the beaten path, this camera packs up really nice with your film holders in a backpack. The lens is a 127mm so it's fairly wide, the one thing I would like to mention, if you plan on getting a new lens make sure you understand that not every lens will be able to stay on the lens board when you shut it, look for lens that is specifically made for this camera and you should be fine. Classic camera that produces wonderfully artistic images
Bought this camera from an Ebay camera dealer. Took a little time to figure out how to operate the camera but once the learning curve was tackled it produced wonderfully artist images that I could not have produced with any other photographic equipment. "ANNIVERSARY" is one of the best model as the period of WWⅡ、durable, precise functions and lightweight to use.
I have almost 4X5 models Speed Graphic as the collector, and I believe the sentence of Richard P. Paine told in his book " a review of GRAFLEX" as below, During the war, All black models of 4X5 were manufactured, probably due to the general shortage of chrome for other than essential use. It is considered opinion of most photographers and collectors that the Anniversary models represented the climax of Speed Graphic workmanship. Although new conveniences and refinements evolved in subsequent models, the pride that produced this quality was never again equalied. So I like this model as the best one.Verified purchase: Yes
