About this product

Product Information

Nintendo's monster-battling franchise makes its Game Boy Advance debut with the simultaneous release of Pokémon: Ruby Version and Pokémon: Sapphire Version, which differ in the frequency of certain monster types. While gameplay closely follows the framework established in earlier titles in the series, a number of enhancements have been incorporated. The world in which players explore is entirely different, as are the strategies associated with the turn-based battles. Certain matches have players selecting two different Pokémon to fight their rival's two creatures, allowing for more choices in combat. The setting for both versions is the region of Hoenn, a chain of islands featuring a variety of climates and terrain, including mountain areas, arid deserts, murky swamps, and more. A total of 15 cities are available to explore, each filled with local residents and fellow trainers who will challenge players to hone their battle skills. Players will be able to carry a party of six Pokémon at once, after first catching them in the wild, with others stored in boxes accessible from each city's personal computer network. Tools or machines can also be acquired to perform tasks such as chopping down trees, fishing, surfing, planting berries, smashing rocks, and even flying. One hundred new monsters have been added into the mix, upping the total of catchable creatures to 200. Ensnared Pokémon are automatically catalogued within an upgraded Pokédex, whether it's the shark-like Sameheader or the pelican-inspired Pelipper, requiring players to learn their special abilities as they evolve into more powerful types. Backgrounds in the fight scenes are now depicted in different shades of color, and the backpack introduced in Pokémon: Gold and Silver has been replaced with a roomier utility belt to carry items found along the journey. Unlike previous games in the popular series, players are unable to transfer existing Pokémon from earlier titles on the Game Boy and Game Boy Color.

  • Pokemon Ruby is a authentic one.

It is a authentic one which is not easy to find. It had a save file and the same error that I have on my Emerald Cardridge. Battery has ran dry and clock based events don't occur. There is a way to fix it. You need to play Fire Red/Leaf Green and fix the computer with the gems. Afterwards when you connect FireRed or LeafGreen with Ruby,Sapphire or Emerald by trading or something that connects both games that annoying battery is dry error should disappear and the clock based events should work again. Planning to erase the save file and start new game and then I will try connecting it to FireRed or LeafGreen. If you want to complete the full dex you will need FireRed,LeafGreen,Emerald,Sapphire and Ruby. 2 GBA's and 2 adapters. You can get some pokemon only by Breeding. Deoxys event,Lugia en Ho-Oh event, Celebi event and Mew events are almost impossible to get but you can buy reproduction versions of LeafGreen and Firered from a seller which also gives you shinies and the difficult event pokemon. Including the complete gen 1 and 2 pokemon. Migration does not work on reproduction cardridges but trade still does. Reproduction cardridges are better played on an GBA only because reproduction cardridges that has events and shinies on it can get reset if you put it into a DS.

  • The product is great! The game, not what I remembered…

The product worked as promised from the seller. I’m super happy this was available. Cartridge is in good shape. But the game isn’t what I remembered. After being spoiled with the newer Pokémon games there were a lot of annoyances like no auto saving, using the tiny D-pad, and the need to hold down B to run. But those are minor annoyances. The game was shorter than I remember it being when I was a kid, but I imagine that was due to the little puzzles I needed to figure out as a kid being easier to figure out now. I finished the game in under 2.0 hours and the post-game incentives aren’t enough to keep me playing at the moment. I’ve just made it to groudon, and have jumped into Shining Pearl on Switch. I never played the original pearl, but this story is much longer and more intuitive than ruby. If you’re looking for a nostalgic game to play this will scratch that itch. If you’re looking for a fulfilling game for hours of gameplay, then it might not be for you.

  • Authentic

This was a true authentic US version of the game. I’ve put in about 40 hours and everything is how I remember it as a kid. Of course, as a true authentic copy it is compatible with the other authentic games I have (trading, migrating, etc). Good price for how hard it is to find a working authentic GBA Pokémon game 20 years since release.

  • Just what I ordered, in great shape. Attention to quality control is apparent.

I got it pretty quick, about a week after I ordered. It was in good shape, in a little protective case. There was a save file with the character's name as "test" proving the game had been tested before sending it out which I love. Condition of the cartridge itself and the stickers on it is great, works just as ordered.

  • Excellent Game

Expectations for this reproduction cartridge were low since it is being sold for such a low price but WOW does this thing perform! Absolutely flawless cartridge with all of the smooth gameplay, great graphics, and glitch free running just like an authentic cartridge!! Save yourself a lot of money and buy this reproduction cartridge…it plays exactly like authentic!

  • a newbie when it comes to pokemon fans

Ive always had ony played the original pokemon series (Red and Blue) and never played another other versions up until recently after white and black were released and talks of releasing sun and moon. I enjoyed the original so much that I wanted to go back and play the other releases, including Leaf Green and Fire Red. Pokemon Ruby is an awesome game and to anyone who doubts this, give it a try. I refused to play any other releases until just recently and I am thoroughly enjoying them.

  • Authentic Pokémon ruby

I love the hoenn region so much that I have to have multiple copies, this game is what I first stared playing. The authentic version is worth it if you want to transfer to the DS games like I do
