Even better second time round
I'm on my second one now after the first one wore out after years of use so you could say I like this remote! I did briefly try a higher spec model from the same brand that comes with a home hub, but I find the 650 does everything I need and is self contained unit (the home hub version has lots of extra wires etc so was more of a faff and it also just felt a bit flimsy). Would give 5 stars, but the remote has a smooth curved bottom that means it often falls on the floor if put down on a hard surface (it really needs a gel cover). A brilliant product, but very difficult to program
This is a brilliant product if one succeeds in programming it to work with the devices one has hooked up to the TV. Getting it programmed to do this is not easy. Logitech have a very responsive online support, but even with this one needs to be pretty savvy to work out how to set up the Harmony 650 to work well. Outstanding universal remote
I use it to control a Freesat PVR, a smart TV, and a Soundbar. Took a while to set it up, largely because thw Samsung Smart TV software is so cranky. Once working it does exactly what it says. Brilliant
I purchased this item after my Kameleon 6 in 1 remote started to play up. We have a home cinema system set up consisting of a TV (as a monitor), Blu-Ray player, Sky+ box, Pioneer surround receiver with 5.1 speakers. My wife is not very technical so the remote had to be able to be set up with macros i.e press 1 button and the set up is switched on and set up for Sky. Press another button and it's set up for watching a movie. The Kameleons that I've had in the past all had this, but they never really lasted long. Either they died or, in the case of the last one, the touch screen became difficult to use. I decided I wanted a remote that used proper buttons and not a touch screen. I also wanted a screen to see what was happening. When I got the remote I went to the Logitech site and signed up (free). I then entered the makemodels of my devices. When I started setting up the two macros it was dead easy to use the wizard. 5 minutes maximum and I was done. Then downloaded in to the remote from the PC and went and tried it. I only got one command the wrong way around and that was easy fixed (your set up is saved on the site). One thing that I really love about this remote is the "All Off" button on the top left. Before, you had to remember if you were on the Sky macro and hit the same button again to switch it off. With this button it puts EVERYTHING off no matter what you have been doing. Harmony Restored
I have used three generations of HARMONY remotes and I am very happy with the 650. It's a bit of a pain to set up everything on line but Logitech update their database and when I broke my old 7 year old 650 remote and purchased a new latest model TV , it was so easy just to update my setup and everything worked 1st time. 10/10 it does what it says on the packet - and then some!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

easier than I thought
Harmony seem to have thought of everything, I have a complicated set up & it switches everything on & off with one button. The only problem I have is with my panasonic surround sound when switching between foxsat & freeview humax it can get mixed up but that is the surround sounds fault as there are so many variables before you get to the right Humax box. One remote to control all
You need a PC to programme this item. I now control TV, sky and sound bar with this remote. I press one button and it turns on all the devices I can control sky and sound bar with this one remote. I press volume and the sound bar volume goes up. It ignores the TV volume. I change channel and the sky changes channel not the TV. Once programmed to how you want it to work you only need this remote. No need for 3 remotes to watch sky any more for me. If you're a multimedia person then get this remote. I can programme another 5 device's if I had another 5 devices lol. No fumbling with press sky to operate sky or TV to operate the TV. Just one button to turn them on and it will work your devices how you want them to work. Search YouTube for videos about these remotes from logitec. Buy one you won't be disappointed. Great remote with a few niggles
I have programmed the 650 and while it is easy to set-up with many flexible options, the Sync is a tad difficult. I found that unless the 650 is plugged into the USB port on start-up, the driver would not be reliably loaded resulting in no sync capability. Moreover, the help has acc. Logitech be disabled, why this is not a default is odd. Having said that, it is now in operation and has made the 8 remote nightmare a memory of the past. Everything you really need and no useless features.
This is my second unit. The first one lasted for almost 10 years. I hope to get more out of this one. Buying the same model as replacement should tell you everything. This is a great programmable remote control. The list of Pros is endless and you should know what they are if you are in the market for this. Cons: 1. Activities cannot be ordered easily - which is quite a shortcoming. But there is a workaround. When first setting up just create placeholder activities for what you want. Then when they are saved and fixed in their order, you can rename them to effectively re-order them, and then customize each activity, rather than making do with the lottery order. 2. Batteries - this eats batteries like it's motorized or something. Ensure you use Rechargeable AAs (it uses two). I solar charge two while using two and swap back and forth.
