High quality and hard hitting in a lightweight package
I’ve owned these Blue Points as well as the Starrett 18s and various generics, and the difference in quality between one like this and the generics is always apparent. I like keeping one of these in my portable tool bag because it weighs a fraction of the Starrett 18A but hits just as hard. It is much longer, however.
The aluminum body and finer internal spring might be slightly more prone to corrosion and wear than the heavier steel body ones, but I keep mine well lubricated and haven’t had any issues. These Blue Points also don’t have an adjustable punch power like the larger ones, but I don’t need to strike lightly very often.
