Product Information
After causing the needless death of another officer during a near-miss air disaster, a distraught army officer resigns from the military. Still, the American wants to serve in the war effort and so, calling himself a Canadian, enlists in the British military to train as a paratrooper. Revealing nothing about his past, he proves himself obedient and exceptionally skilled. This rouses the suspicion of his commanding officer who starts investigating the trooper. WWII as it was, one of the few that my father approved
This may be B&W but this film is pure class of its generation and all the actors are utterly credible in their respective roles. Emotional engagement is on the subtle and understated side but it has you hooked from about the third part of the film. Technological advances have made modern film making a galaxy away from the outputs of this era but this film exudes the kind of hallmark standard that puts it in a very special place in the hearts of true film buffs of a certain age and disposition.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Rather Rubbish!
Well I have to say this was a little bit of a let down. I assume it was for the American / Canadian propaganda films? As generally I tend to enjoy anything showing WW2 but this one didn't sit right. A supposed Canadian with a major chip on his shoulder, fighting anyone that said anything bad about Americans (SPOILER - He turns out to be American). With such an unlikable character it makes this much harder to watch than it should be.
