500GB WD Blue 5400 RPM, 2.5inch WD5000LPCX
Although this spins at 5400 rpm it has 16 mb of cache on board, as opposed to the more normal 8 mb, the second hand one i recieved has no bad sectors or errors (hence it is reliable) it is very quiet and although not as fast as an ssd or sshd it is fast enough for my needs, while, running a linux based home theater pc. Laptop hard drives are good for this purpose, because, they are inherantly quiet, use very little power and can be modified (using a 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch hard drive mounting adaptor to fit inside a normal desktop pc case (like i have done) the connections are the same as mainstream 3.5 inch desk top connectors, so, it is easy to connect up, as well, once inside the pc case. 500 gig of storage is a decent amount of storage, on top of the other considerations. My main aim was for reliabililty and quiet operation (I know its second hand) but, the price was right. I am happy with it and it performs as well as I had hoped it would do.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
