The Panasonic HDC-HS900 features the advanced 3MOS System, which combines the high-sensitivity 3MOS Sensor, large-diameter F1.5 Leica Dicomar Lens and Crystal Engine PRO, for bright, low-noise recording even in dim lighting. The Full HD 1080/60p recording conveys about twice the information of 1080i (interlace) recording and enables this Panasonic camcorder to produce unmatched quality images. The HYBRID O.I.S, an exclusive technology implemented in this digital camera, is an image stabilisation system that corrects hand-shake blurring by combining the action of its hybrid optical and electrical image stabilisation systems. The Panasonic HDC-HS900 also features the 3D Conversion Lens, which allows the Panasonic camcorder to produce an effect called visual disparity: right and left images are captured simultaneously by the digital camera, and recorded using the side-by-side method. Other features of the Panasonic HDC-HS900 include the Crystal Engine PRO processor, to instantly process all the data and further enhance full-HD quality, and the Intelligent Resolution Technology, which uses edge detection technology to confirm the edges of objects within the image, then emphasizes the edges for optimal clarity.

A great camera, providing excellent picture quality.
DSLRs are Ok for shooting the occasional video clips, but they don't compare with a dedicated video camera. This camera is well-built and produces great quality video. The zoom is smooth and has a good enough range. I haven't yet used the built-in hard disc drive but it offers huge storage capacity.
