Over Priced but Great Wireless Tethering Tool
The CamRanger is a great bit of kit if you like taking photos from very near to the ground but don't want to get on the ground with your camera. From an ipad you can easily see your composition, pick a focus point, adjust all your setting and then download and view your image with the convenience of the larger screen of the ipad. The live view mode is crystal clear in daylight but very noisy in low light but that would be the case with the camera LCD. It also lets gives you intervalometer functions for time-lapse and HDR oup to 45 brackets). It switches the camera mode as well as file type so all you need to physically adjust with the camera is your composition and if required zooming in and out with the lens. The only downside is the battery life is not great when out for a full days shooting and it does use up the camera battery quickly to but this is easily worked around (I've ordered an additional battery, overpriced at £34 inc. postage). The other negative is the build quality, it is very lightweight and light plastic construction which feels like it will not handle much abuse over time, for the £200 price point I expected something a bit more robust and why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 as the functionality of the device is outstanding and will be a constant in my camera bag. The attached photo is from my first trip with it and lying on the water's edge on the beach with an incoming tide would never have been an option without the CamRanger.
