  • A brilliant series, spoiled somewhat by distortion in the recording.

The series is just how I remember it, it’s very funny, and the characters ver charming. Jus one negative though, the recording appears to have been adapted for the wider screen, which make the actors look wide, and the cars look ridiculous, the VW looks more like an EType Jaguar.

  • Chance in a Million DVD box set.

I'll skip going into detail about the show itself - 'Chance' is one of those lost little gems from the mid 80's, but you can find information about it elsewhere. I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time round. Some of the jokes and references may have dated somewhat, but genuinely the plot and the production values hold up well enough. One thing that may be an irritation (and the reason I knocked a star off, 'Good' rather than 'Excellent') is the editing on the DVDs. The show was originally aired on Channel 4, which means it had one ad-break per episode. They probably (I honestly can't remember) had an 'end of part one/part two' caption, and a fade out, possibly with a brief tune. The people who have edited this for DVD release however, simply cut each episode together. Because of the way the episodes were written, the first scene after the commercial break is usually set in a different location to the one immediately before, and this makes the transition more jarring than it needs to be. That little technical gripe aside, a good purchase, lots of fun, and some nice extras for fans of the show. Recommended.

  • Great nostalgic 80's TV

A trip down memory lane watching this series. Great performances by Simon Callow and Brenda Blethyn. Entertaining and amusing as they lurch from one mishap to another. A great bit of 80's telly.

  • Reawakening memories of past humour

Brenda Blethyn and Simon Callow are an excellent match for these characters. Now I remember where and who a hero was who 'glugged' a pint. THE MAN'S AN ARTIST!

  • All time favourite

Extremely funny then and just as funny now. The plots are so complexly interlinked, even after a 3rd viewing, you pick up bits you missed. I cannot think why so many people missed it first time around...ITV? OK some acting by minor characters can be a bit wooden/stagey/over-acted but the main characters are brilliant and went on to great careers.

  • A screwball humor gem

A gem from the 1980s. Crazy humor, insanely funny characters. The picture and sound quality is poor by modern standards, but the fantastic content makes it up.
