Carl Buckley (Broderick Crawford) needs the intervention of his beautiful wife Vicki (Gloria Grahame) to keep his job, so Vicki meets with Carl's boss Owens (Grandon Rhodes), and Carl's job is secure. Insanely jealous, Carl finds Vicki with Owens on board a train and kills Owens. Jeff Warren (Glenn Ford), an off-duty train engineer protects Vicki and they begin an affair. Train of Disaster
The movie stars Gloria Grahame, so what isn’t there to like.This was a Film Noir Movie, & it lived up to that category. The train scenes, drivers ,bells, whistles etc, were a bit of an overkill for this girl, but the story & plot made up for that. The movie had love, lust, unfaithfulness, & a couple of murders, all on the one train. Gloria Grahame & Glen Ford were naturals for the adulterous lovers, but Glen Ford redeemed himself somewhat towards the end of the movie, when Gloria urged him to kill her husband, & at the last moment he had a stroke of conscience & could not go through with it. Gloria received justice, before the train reached its destination. She would not be able to tell her side of the story, she had been silenced forever.
