On the top of the Chesel there is a metal insert which is ideal when hitting with a hummer. Having this feature is highly beneficial You would find on the wooden ones doing action, the wood will most likely split. They are made of good quality and great for taking Bituman off parquet flooring and everyday wood work. These are great for Professional and DIY user. Value for money, just Great for the hobbyist but not really for everyday use, Package well, but they really need a good amount of metal work before you can use them, they come with a very crude finish, blunt ,coarse cut edges etc, however after a few hours of sanding with emery cloth, polishing and then sharpening, these are a great little chisel set. easy to sharpen, and appears to be fairly durable, The handles are small, but practical.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Price good. Finish rough.
The price was good as it was low. However the quality of metal finish was rough. The chisels had been forged by hand and finished on a rough grind stone. It took me 10-20 minutes per chisel and a linisher to get the surfaces to a usable standard. Worst chisels I've ever seen or purchased.
These chisels have to be the worst I have ever purchased. They look as though they are unfinished with extremely rough sides and faces. I wanted some cheap chisels for a specific purpose and, as it was a one off project, on that basis I decided to keep them. I would always expect new chisels to need sharpening before use but these had to be re-ground. If you need very cheap chisels for very casual use and are willing to spend time grinding and sharpening then these are ok. Very very cheap
This is everything you should expect from a sub £5 set of 4 chisels. Crude grinding leaving rough surfaces on the sides right down to the tip. I bought them to reprofile them so I didn't care about the quality. As a result they were perfect for me. Do not expect them to do a good job on wood unless you have some serious tools to finish what the factory started. Like I say. Perfect for me and exactly why I chose this set. Worst Chisels on the market
I bought these for my son as a starter set for collage, big mistake! I know they are cheap in price however they are totally utter rubbish, I would go as far to say a slice of bread will have a sharper edge than this set of chisels. Poor quality
Unfortunately not happy with one of the chisel’s, the biggest one, snapped on first use. Basic use chiselling out a door keyhole recess. Not happy but had already ordered another set for family friend so here’s hoping. A replacement would be much appreciated.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Quality control required
I knew that I had to accept that inexpensive tools were inexpensive for a reason. Whilst the materials used in producing these chisels was what I had expected, the quality of the liking of the metal was downright appalling. Totally in-useable
All four so called chisels were rough ground, bent and unfinished. One was twisted, bevels are rough and uneven and there was no attempt at a cutting edge. Steel is soft and can be filed easily, no hardening. Black Spur should be taken to court for selling goods that are UNFIT FOR PURPOSE.
