The Nikon FM2T 35-millimeter SLR Film Camera is sturdy and durable. It is a titanium version of the popular Nikon FM2n. The original Nikon FM model from Japan became available in the 1970s. However, it was soon upgraded to the FM2 with silicon photodiode light meter sensors and a bearing-mounted vertical metal shutter. The shutter can reach a speed of 1/4000 seconds because the honeycombed curtains could travel twice as fast as the standard curtains at the time. When this film camera was redesigned in 1984, the Nikon FM2n 35-millimeter unit was fitted with a titanium-bladed shutter that was eventually replaced by strong, affordable aluminum. The Nikon FM2T was one of two sister models of the FM2n. It was introduced in 1994 with top, bottom, and back plates that were made of a titanium alloy. With the extra corrosion and dent resistance, this specialized 35-millimeter film camera from Nikon became a favorite among adventurous photographers. Whether you're a mountaineer or a general outdoor enthusiast, you'll love the robust nature of these compact, semi-professional SLR cameras. They weigh only 515 grams. This 35-millimeter camera is a great investment for purists. You don't have to worry about software with the FM2/t, and you can use every feature without the need for batteries. If you choose to use the metering function that works through an internal 60/40% center weighted system, you'll need either two S76 or A76 cells or a CR 1/3N lithium battery. The camera body is gray in color. Nikon also made a couple of collectible versions of the FM2/t film camera that are quite rare today. One model from 1994 pays tribute to the Chinese Year of the Dog while the other commemorates the year 2000. Since you can choose between manual and automatic focus, the Nikon 35-millimeter SLR FM2/t gives you versatility. The depth-of-field control for this camera model is superb. You can change both the focus screen and the lens. Nikon F bayonet mount lenses will work with the FM2/t body if they support automatic indexing. If you opt to use a Nikon MD-12 motor drive, then the camera will be able to advance your film at a rate of 3.2 frames per second. You may also enjoy the benefits of Nikon MF-16 data back, which replaces the back plate of the camera to allow it to take and store digital photos. The FM2/t SLR film camera has a hot shoe that is designed with an off-center base cutout that has been squared. You can use electronic flashes such as Nikon SB-15 or SB-16B. The mirror box on the camera has a light trap that will flip up as the mirror flips down. Bounce and vibration are minimized by the model's precision-tapered, strong vertical shutter blades. Nikon FM2T
I've had so much trouble with electronic cameras I decided to revert to a mechanical camera that I've used before and liked. I got the 'T' version because it's lighter for my rucksack. Lovely reliable camera. I use film. The cameras that have given me problems are F60,F80,F100(New£1000; body). All have cheap and nasty plastic back catches that break.
