I purchased this camera as a replacement for a similar one I had previously used for a number of years, which died on me during a recent holiday. I have always found this camera to be reliable and easy to use. It is a handy size to carry around and produces good quality pictures. Probably not good enough for exhibition-quality pictures, but ideal for holiday and family photos. It has a decent zoom range and macro capability. More of a good thing.
I already had one of these but after years of use the flash failed. I can still use it without flash but it seemed sensible to buy another rather than spend more money getting the old one repaired. I now have one for general use and one that I keep perminently in my car I own a lot of cameras including 2 Nikon digital SLR's and other Canon compacts. People with some photography knowledge will get the best from this camera. Images can be as good as DSLR if you now the cameras limits. This is an older canon camera but you cant beat the G9 for excellence and value. I had one years ago and gave it to a relative when I got a DSLR.
