Retro rebuild project... unexpected but fun.
I bought this not fully reading the info, i realised when i got it that the console needed a batter spring replaced on the left side amd the speakers a little dodgey. I opened it up to find the spreaker corroded and needing replaced. I also learnt a bit about motherboards from this, i believe it would be a great project for anyone interested in fiddly things. 5 stars if it was a fully working machine but then i would have the satisfaction of saying ive updated it and worked atmaking it better. No backlighting, but good retro gaming experience

Finally I can play outside in the sunshine!
Unlike a lot of modern handheld consoles (Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Mobile-phones, etc.), the original Gameboy Color did not come with a back-lit screen and as such it may be difficult to play in darkness, but it works that much better in direct sunlight, which (as far as I am concerned) is why one would want a handheld gaming-console in the first place - to be able of playing games outside! I have been playing this extensively and it is able to play not only my Gameboy Color games, but also the classic 'monochrome' games of old (for the original Gameboy) and all of this in direct sunlight, without any issues of having to adjust brightness or contrast, etc. the battery-life of this thing (2xAA batteries) is simply astounding and can last for months, depending on how frequently you play it. this is simply one of the greatest handheld consoles out there and deserves every bit of recognition - if you suddenly find yourself perched atop a mountain, or tree or just hanging out at the beach, in broad daylight, feel free to just plug in your favorite cartridge (I recommend Tetris DX for those short bursts of gaming) and enjoy being able to play your games outside, without the hassle of not being able to see the screen and hey, if you do run out of batteries; they come pretty cheap and can be bought at basically any convenience-store/gas-station, etc.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
