All terrain, practical, nice zoom coverage, light
I bought it for social events, the zoom range is very useful 28-105, the F 3.5-4.5 (I use in FF) helps a lot in low light situations without using a high ISO, the focus is nice, high quality build and metal body. Don't expect the best sharpness, most of zoom lenses has not good good sharpness and this is one of them, but hey! for $50-$80 bucks is one of the best deals you can find on internet/

Not usable for my needs. Sub par images and scratchy when telephoto control is turned
Does not focus sharply and when I turn aperture it is scratchy. It has been dropped. The little plastic window is cracked and a small dent/chip on the body.unusable for my needs. It will take a photo but not good quality. Tested on several outdoor objects.

Good general purpose lens.
My original lens, 18-55 mm was great for close up but seriously lacking for distances. My other lens, 76-170mm was great for distance shots but impossible for closer shots. This lens, 28-105 mm gives me the best of both worlds with quick focusing and great close shots as well as decent reach for clear and detailed distance shots. I would highly recommend this lens for general use while doing walk around photography while traveling to avoid having to carry a huge bag of various lenses everywhere.

Nice smaller standard zoom lens.
I have several standard zoom lenses, but I picked this one up because it was a lot smaller and lighter than the others I own. This makes it a better walkaround choice, especially if you're using a smaller body. Of course, the quality is 100% Canon all the way, and the images come out crisp and clear.

Excellent everyday carry around lens
This is a small and light zoom lens. The aperture range 3.5 - 4.5 is reasonably fast for every day shoot. The lens sharpness is excellent and the out of focus rendering is very pleasant. There is nothing to dislike about this lens. I used it on Rebel T3 as well as EOS 6D and the results were very good both for video and stills. Highly recommended.

I have ordered this lens because the original one I had started giving me trouble. It arrived from Japan to Israel in less then 5 days. The lens was double packed in two layers of bubble wrap with silicate moisture absorber in the middle and with extra Styrofoam on the side, inside a good cardboard box. EF 28-105 3.5-4.5 USM soft wide open but give nice color picture.
As said pls expect soft picture wide open @ all zoom range. Stepping down 1 stop will sharpen up the photo a lot more. Sharp or soft is not my concern as the lens do gives very nice exciting color picture. For the present pre-own price, you will not regret to have one. Get one you’ll like it in some way.
