Other specifications include a seven-blade diaphragm, an all-metal design, and a minimum aperture of f/16. It uses an F-mount to attach to your DSLR camera. Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 Ai-s Great lens!
This lens is so good that Nikon still produces and sells it brand new to this date. I always wanted to have this lens. It is famous worldwide amongst the old school news paper photographers. The first question almost everybody ask today is: Is this lens sharp? There are way more things about a lens than sharpness. It takes time to get to know the "character" of a lens. How does it respond to tone gradation? color rendition? bouquet at different apertures? and so on... This lens at f/1.4 gives this wonderful dreamy looks and an awesome bouquet that no other lens has! if one only wants sharpness it gets there by f/2.0 and downwards. Manual focus is a breeze with all the light it gathers. Of course it is not easy to focus at f/1.4 for the depth of field is so narrow. It takes knowledge and practice to do it right. It is a pearl! Not selling it and this one is joining my team of lenses that uses 52mm filters in front of it. This lens is very portable and there is no other in the market close to its size and characteristics. "All the sharp lenses" out there are bulky and produces flat images. Nikkor is a champ brand! History tells itself. What brand out there still produces a lens designed and produced since 1971? This is a top of the line lens. It is solid, well-balanced. Has that old substantial feel to it. The barrel focuses like a lens, not like a piece of plastic. Amazing Nikon lens
Great IQ but not as great as modern lenses but you don't buy this lens to pixel peep. The craftsmanship is superb and the unique characteristics of the image rendered is special. Buy this lens if your looking for something fun and different. My only complaint is that it is a bit too big and heavy for a 35mm and the weight of the lens on my FM3a feels a little off balanced.
