SynopsisThe tale of a writer who has a bad car accident out in the country. He is "rescued" by a psychopath who holds him hostage until he finally builds the strength to escape., After an almost fatal car crash, novelist Paul Sheldon finds himself being nursed by a deranged fan who holds him captive, The #1 New York Times bestseller about a famous novelist held hostage in a remote location by his ¿number one fan.¿ One of ¿Stephen King¿s best¿genuinely scary¿ (USA TODAY). Paul Sheldon is a bestselling novelist who has finally met his number one fan. Her name is Annie Wilkes, and she is more than a rabid reader¿she is Paul¿s nurse, tending his shattered body after an automobile accident. But she is also furious that the author has killed off her favorite character in his latest book. Annie becomes his captor, keeping him prisoner in her isolated house. Annie wants Paul to write a book that brings Misery back to life¿just for her. She has a lot of ways to spur him on. One is a needle. Another is an axe. And if they don¿t work, she can get really nasty. ¿Terrifying¿ (San Francisco Chronicle), ¿dazzlingly well-written¿ (The Indianapolis Star), and ¿truly gripping¿ (Publishers Weekly), Misery is ¿classic Stephen King...full of twists and turns and mounting suspense¿ (The Boston Globe).

  • Awesome!

I love this book and movie. Years ago, in middle school or high, I let someone borrow it. I cannot remember who it was and was devastated to never get it back. I don’t like the new covers so came to my trusty store on eBay! Beautiful condition; hardly looks as if it’s been open. Thrilled to own one of my favorites from King once more.

  • A Horror Classic

Decades ago I missed the boat on this one. Then the movie came out and I needed another decade or so to get that out of my system. The story in the original novel here was far more brutal than the movie. There were some rather convenient plot points that helped speed the story along. However, I won't spoil that for any readers who may be new to the Stephen King experience. Misery was one King's best. Personally, I go in for the paranormal side of King's novels and stories. This one is very much a flesh and blood tale without any of the paranormal. It worked. Annie Wilkes will go down as one of the all-time baddies.

  • Easy to follow. A real page turner!

I have been collecting certain Stephen King novels in hardcover and Misery was difficult to get. The book arrived in good condition. I didn't mind that it was a library book but was surprised to find a card and pouch in the back of the book. It did make me chuckle.

  • GOOD BUT BAD CONDITION

The book itself is in good shape BUT it smells really bad. Idk if it’s due to it being from 1987. I honestly don’t know if the price beats the bad smell.
