  • Great Watch Deal

Great watch deal. Watch was in perfect condition and genuine right down to the lousy strap Seiko includes. Having read the reviews I had an alternate strap ready. Love the watch. 39.5 diameter watches are rather small on my wrist but this one works. Comes in a plastic bag instead of a watch box but that does not matter to me. All the manual either were in Japanese so I didn't want them anyway. The green dial really pops in the sunlight. Second hand sweep is extremely smooth. You can tell this was one of Seiko's better automatic movements. Vendor has best price on Internet for this watch.

  • The Green Dial looks amazing!

The Seiko Sarb017 is a beautiful watch. For it's cheap price and the value you are getting you can't really complain, but there are a few things which are not perfect. The compass bezel doesn't line up with the scale perfectly, I tried to move it back and forth with the lower crown, but I just cannot make it fit - maybe it needs something like a locked bezel position at the "North Pole". When you look very closely (I have noticed this only because I made a photography of the dial) you can actually see that the hands don't have perfect borders you can notice a slight grate. Also the dark leather armband you get with this watch does not fit the watch. It is way too glossy and dark... I recommend getting a brighter coloured strap. After all I can still recommend the watch to anyone who wants a affordable, but reliable automatic watch. The movement seems to keep ticking for as long as promised or more (48+ h), the Green dial just looks so amazing , especially with a small change to the wristband and the watch in general feels really valuable.

  • The Seiko SARB017Alpinist JDM is an Incredible value

This 5th generation JDM, 100% made in Japan, watch has it all. It has the excellent Seiko 6R15 movement so it is an automatic, and it also hacks and and hand winds. It has a flat sapphire crystal and it has 20 Bar/200 ft of water resistance with an engraved solid screw in back, and an engraved screw in crown. It has an excellent case size of 38mm and it has an internal compass bezel. The face is an incredible green that you either hate or love, with gold arabic numerals and indices which are very reflective and visible when in low light. The hands are also gold outlined with Seiko's famous lume infill. There are also lumed pips at every hour. My only possible "complaint" could be that the 12 o'clock pip is not double or distinguished from the other pips so if it is not on your writs it could be hard to tell which is 12 o'clock position. Also the OEM Seiko strap is just OK. but most folks change it out anyway. Mine has been keeping excellent time, maybe a few seconds fast a day, maybe. Of course the dial color and style are matters of personal taste, but I love it. In fact my inner pack rat wants to buy another one so in case something happens to this one I'd have a spare!

  • Get 'em while they're hot.

For the price you pay for this product, the quality and features are seriously impressive. A watch with horological significance and history to match it's beauty and uniqueness. In a market with stocks of this watch reducing, I would say grab one now before the prices start to rise again. The only drawback of this watch is a lower frequency movement compared to swiss competitors or a Miyota high beat movement. Although this is offset by the higher power reserve.

  • Could easily be your one and only

This watch is easily the most versatile I own. Its build-quality, ruggedness and style allow it to go anywhere, and do anything. The sapphire glass, 200m wr, and 6r15 movement allow it to be tough and reliable. Take it hiking, camping, snorkeling, or doing rough chores. It will keep working perfectly. It's also one of my most beautiful watches. The sunburst dial really is stunning. The cathedral hands are absolutely timeless. The compass ring unobtrusive, and if anyone were to notice it, it would simply imply to them that you are a cultured outdoorsman. This watch can go from the trail to a wedding, with merely a strap change. Or leave the strap the same and let it suggest your more daring side. Of the watches I own, this one was easily the best value.

  • Great watch for the money...except the strap.

Style. Class. Elegance. This watch has it all. The SARB017 is a great piece. Wears well because of its size. Very accurate. I've gotten as good as +2/-2 over a 24 hour span. That's fantastic! Only downside to this watch is the strap. It's absolute crap! Change it out immediately. I put mine on a nice light green Colareb and it wears wonderfully.

  • Nice watch for the price

I will keep this short, as there are plenty of reviews of this model. Pros: amazing green sunburst dial, overall looks of dial and bezel, finishing of the case. It is a unique piece with charachter. The sound of winding the watch is very nice, feels heavy and well made. Lume is excelent, and the watch is 200m water resistant, so you can wear it without worries! Cons: The strap goes straight to the trash bin, feels like plastic, hard, uncomfortable, does not contour to the wrist and makes a watch stand high above your wrist (and it is thick enough!). It is relativelly small, especially compared to its thickness. The numerals and the bezel have a slight missalignment, and the sound of the movement when you shake the watch is a complete opposite of the sound that the watch makes when you wind it manually. Rotor just sounds cheap, like something got loose inside the watch. Overall it is solid watch for the price, and with a new leather strap I do enjoy wearing it, especially outdoors, where the green dial really comes to life, and i do find myself using the compass feature a lot, jut for the pure fun of it:)!

  • Great value; Room for improvement

The strap sucks. An upgrade to a aftermarket strap is almost necessary. I upgraded to the strapcode angus jubilee, and now the watch is near perfect. The automatic winding mechanism/rotor is slightly loud. It sounds like it rattles, but it's actually just winding. That is a little disappointing, but overall it's great value.

  • Seiko Alpinist is a perfect Tool or Explorer's watch.

A few pro's: 39mm in size and is very comportable on my small wrist. Very reliable and precise movement. Can be worn on either a leather watch band or a bracelet. Great looking watch. Made In JApan. A Diashock, saphire glass and 200m water resistance are great features.

  • Gorgeous watch, very reasonably priced!

I love this watch! It keeps great time (+3.6 sec/day) and has all the features I want in an everyday kind of watch. I put it in a 2 tone jubilee bracelet and it’s killer. A good friend of mine who is into watches and knowledgeable about them said it looked like a $1000 watch. It’s certainly not my most expensive watch, but it is definitely one of my favorites.
