Wonderful reading
They are probably up there with the best books ever written. Alf wight, the very famous vet, wrote these a long way back now but they are as good to read again as they were originally. The new TV series of All Creatures Great and Small I hope will get lots more people reading these marvellous books. Set in the forties and fifties they are utterly charming, highly amusing, sad at times but wonderful compelling reading. Theres not many books that make you laugh out loud but these certainly do. Extremely Enjoyable
I'm not really much of a reader, there never seem to be a lot of spare time on my hands... but in the odd moments that I can spare, I am really enjoying this box set. We have the old dvds and it's lovely to notice how closely they stuck to the original books. However the books are better for me, because if I have to put them down to do other jobs, they are still waiting for me for me to pick up again, whereas I found I kept on missing out on lots of episodes of the dvds.
