    The Finishing touch

A great little sander which does a good job for the price. It would be nice if there was a speed control option for greater control (Even at a higher price). Good sanding action and comfortable to use. Seems to have a good build quality with a powerful and smooth sanding action with minimal vibration. Well worth the money if you need a basic finishing sander.

Chinese sander with a Metabo badge. No more, no less...

As with all the Chinese-built Metabo tools, this sander is above the quality of the really cheap DIY Shed end of the market, but put them side-by-side without labels next to bargain basement 'Parkside' brand tools from LIDL and the visual build quality and feel are remarkably similar (as is the colour!). I first bought Metabo tools on the promise that they were made entirely in Germany with German materials... Times have changed dramatically over the years, and this is my cheapest Metabo tool yet, bought quickly to get me out of a fix. It works well enough, with sufficient power to prevent overheating and slowing, however the paper is fiddly to fix, although this is perhaps the price to pay for a very compact design. Definitely inferior to Makita's offering. There are a few specific problems with this tool that I have noticed in its few hours use to date: 1). Vibration feels subjectively higher than that specified. (I have tested many tools for hand-arm vibration issues in industry and have a fairly good 'feel' for this kind of thing!). 2). The dust collector becomes detached when working overhead. 3). Dust escapes considerably from the end of the filter through gaps in the assembly. 4). The clear plastic dust cover over the on/off switch is very much stiffer than similar items on other products, making it somewhat clumsy in use. 5). Really nasty stiff plastic power cable - one of my pet hates! Only time will tell if the innards are better quality than the exterior, however it is a nice tool to use (apart from the above expected vibration levels) and does the job for which it was purchased. Provided one does not expect German Metabo quality at these bargain Chinese prices, most buyers should probably not be too concerned.

  • Works well but flawed design and presentation

The sander works well but details of the design are unnecessarily difficult. The switch is fiddly when it doesn't really need to be. The clamps for the sandpaper are tricky when others manage a more convenient design. The dust outlet is a custom shape to suit the filter housing and a special adaptor is needed to use a vacuum hose. These are available for £7-£10 and if you need this facility the Metabo may become an uneconomic proposition. The adaptors probably cost pence rather than £s so why not charge a £ or two extra and put one in the box. The machine does come with a nice box but this is quite bulky. Be informed, pay your money and take your choice.

  • Well made, efficient quality product

Really nice quality little palm sander which is quite & efficient. I particularly like the dust collection system which works very well, providing that you remember to push the collection holes through the sandpaper. All together a pleasure to use, packed into a moulded plastic carry case.

  • Great product

I bought another brand which fell apart. The Metabo is robust easy to use and probably saved me hours of sanding by hand. Well worth the money.
