I purchased the 6 inch practice pad so that it could be specially mounted on a tripod which are pretty cheaply available too. Did that and it works really well.
As it's only a small pad I managed to take it on holiday too and do some practice too.
Nice to hit, as for it's realism and similarity to a snare I can't really comment as I do not have that much experience but it does bounce the stick back as it is supposed too.
BUT, in hindsight I would have purchased the 12 inch and mounted on a snare cage. The 6 inch is small, compact, portable but it is small and I feel I would have better practice on the 12 inch version. I would have gone for the 12 inch if it had a threaded mount but it may be unstable with such a small mount point, hence needing to use a snare cage.
There was a slight fade due to sun where the label of the packaging was, but despite this discrepancy from the photo in the description, it still worked as required.
