Great buy - full review
I bought this last year and it has definitely gotten its use. Some say the bass isn’t amazing. I would like to argue that the wireless bass produces enough bass to rattle the first floor windows of my apartment building, I live on the third floor and can feel the bass through the whole apartment which is deep and clear. Movies are really enjoyable with loud rumbling action scenes. The Atmos really makes it an enjoyable experience when it come to bullets, choppers, cars, explosions, talking, etc. being able to hear the simplest noises makes it amazing. I was watching a movie the other night and this actress was in a hallway, you could hear the buzzing from the old light fixtures. I was so impressed that For a second forgot where I was and felt wrapped into the movie. I have had this thing on volume 100 for music and you feel like you’re at the concert. There is never any break up or distortion. If you don’t have the cash to get a full system set up and want something that will check all the boxes on a smaller and cheaper scale, I recommend this. Some people won’t understand spending $1,000+ on a sound system, but for us audiophiles it is worth it for the budget. Only complaint is the information screen is located on the top of the sound bar, not on the front so you have to physically stand and walk over to it to see what you’re adjusting. The app is easy to use, I just wish it also had the adjustments for the individual speakers. The box came in prefect condition everything wrapped and brand new. With fast shipping. Not worth the money
I was hoping this system would really be outstanding as I was paring it with an 85” high end Samsung tv. The sound quality is fine. I wouldn’t say it is better than many of the less expensive systems I have used over the years however. The biggest downside is the total lack of support and instructions on solving issues. As far as I can tell there is no way to adjust volume levels on the surround speakers and woofer. In order to hear them you almost have to put your ear to them. Also as you scroll through the very limited options on the sound bar you cannot detect much variation in the settings. Definitely the King of Sound bars. Awesome sound.
I know first hand why they call the SAMSUNG HW-Q950A 11.1.4ch Sound bar the King of Sound bars. This thing sounds AWESOME. Easy to set up. Blew my brother's Bose sound bar away. Awesome system
I thought I was going to have buyers remorse after buying this system. Right out of the box, I underestimated the size and weight of everything. Stuff appears well built and it heavy. Soundbar is 15 lbs. Sound is great. I have it in the basement with 8 foot walls, results vary with room size and design. I have it hooked to a TCL 4k tv and it is excellent. A soundbar you won't want to replace till it's broken.
Dialogue through the center channel is crisp and clear; can understand everything being said without subtitles. The subwoofer produces a massive amount of bass, more than any subwoofer has the right to produce. The rear surrounds do a well job of handling 5.1 audio, and make action movies/shows feel immersive. Have not yet tried listening to any atmos content with this, though I shouldn't expect too much since it would at most simulate height effects. Will update this once I actually listen to some content. There's only two things that were a (slight) negative. Connecting all of the devices (subwoofer and two rear surrounds) to the main soundbar was kind of a pain. Also, the soundbar and other speakers were fairly larger than I had anticipated, but I was able to accomodate this. Excellent soundbar and steal of a price!
This soundbar has a new 608mb software upgrade as of 8.12.2021. Samsung doesn't tell you what it changes but I assume it was this audible function and stability in connection. This sound bar rocks!!!! I needed to replace my old hw-k850. The sound bar now provides an audible notification when you switch inputs and when you switch audio settings. It will say "hdmi1", "Bluetooth", "adaptive sound", "game mode" etc. Which now helps negate the "display on top" gripe. This setting can be turned on the smart things app Satellite speakers are awesome and they get loud. They are some big boxes and I appreciate. These speakers have 3 speakers in them. So they are not the typical sw9500s speakers, for that reason. So if youre on the fence thinking about getting the q900 and getting the rears later, you'll be missing out. The sound bar has great low rumble. Sampled it using "without remorse" and "underground six". Subwoofer hammers!!! Connection into smart things was easy, literally plugged the sound bar in and launched smart things and it did the rest. I played in the app just to see the settings. There are some eq settings, but I use adaptive eq for my needs Earc is basically an on/off setting in my Hisense tv. It doesn't require any lip sync correction. I just turn earc on or back off to arc. When I use earc on standard cable, there is no way to get perfect lip sync. Each setting works perfectly where it's supposed to. The kravdat fabric is actually really nice, it's a sound fabric is actually design to reduce sound imperfections. The fabric actually reduces the overall weight of the bar rather than using a metal grill. It really has a functional purpose on the soundbar. the fabric has very unique feel, it doesn't feel like the typicall fabric you see on the matching subwoofer. This fabric almost feels like a recycled cup holder. It feels hard and sturdy. You have to really put your hands on it to appreciate it. Also what people don't think about it with the metal grill, dust particles can travel into the speakers. This fabric stops stops that, again it functional. Overall this bar sings, I've got the bar on 8 and it already is giving me a nice casual listening sound. The microphones pick up extremely well. I barely said "Alexa" and the tv muted waiting for my command. Surprised how well it picks up because my soundbar is physically behind my tv due to the style of tv mount I use. The response was really quick. The remote is the same as before. It pairs by Bluetooth but still has the IR function as well. I use an IR adapter since my soundbar is behind the tv. Remote works perfectly. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 star is because the unit should be completely controlled by Bluetooth. The other reason is they only give you a 5ft power cord to plug in these satellite speakers. I had to go and buy 10ft cords from Walmart for $10 each. You use these cords in a decent set up with speaker stands 5ft may not be enough. I have an open floor so my wall is further away from the couch but I have a plug in the floor. Samsung should give you 8ft power cords. I repurpose my Radiant R1 speaker stands by simply buying an "L" bracket from Amazon $15 and using a "1/4in 20x1/4" screw and a washer $2. Nice, sturdy, looks good and saved me money on new stands. 2 HDMI inputs with 2.1 rated ports according to Samsung, I haven't tested that. Update Your tv may need to be set to "Passthrough" if you notice any lipsync issues. Don't leave your tv on "Auto" thinking you can change the lipsync delay function. Just change the passthrough setting. It worked perfect when I changed mine after trying to change all the delay volume settings at first. I set the individual volume settings wide and side to 0, center channel on 6. I put the rear speaker volume settings on 3 with rear top on 6. Put the bass on 5. Sound setting is on "Surround", I don't use the adaptive eq. The sound coming from the unit very balanced now. The subwoofer thumps once the volume is on 15, which is great for loud listening without having to hear such high treble and losing the bass. I am very pleased with this unit and honestly it's a steal to have gotten it at this price. Big box retailers still want $1499 plus a $299 warranty. I got the unit and warranty for $1300 even after taxes.

Hands down the best Dolby Atmos experience in 2021.
Dolby Atmos on thing is truly unbelievable, the second best thing to a cinema experience. Beats my Sonos Arc full setup (with Sonos Sub 3 and two One SL speakers) by a lot. If you listen to more music than watch/stream, Sonos can be a better choice. The music is a bit crispier. But overall, If I had to pick one, Q950A is the best soundbar on the market right now. Now, Sonos is being "downgraded" to a master bedroom, and Q950A takes the throne in my living room.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
