    UFO The complete Series

I already had this but has gone mission, so I have bought again, this the remastered version, a Blu ray version is also available. Set in 1980, this series made in 1973 is well made, the acting is good and the models are excellent. It builds on the Gerry Anderson traditions and production that really came into their own with the Thunderbirds series in 1966. UFO ran for a series and then a hastily put together set of episodes was added which meant that some of the actors did not appear in these episodes, not under any contract, some were doing other projects. Although aimed at a children's audience, the later 7pm scheduling of the programs led to many adults watching the series episodes. You'll see some later famous actors in the cast list, Louise Jameson, Deborah Grant, for starters with some established faces like Patrick Allen, George Sewell, Wanda Ventham and Michael Jayston too. Some of the technology may be a bit dated but I think this still stands up.

    Not bad

Seen this years ago when it was on TV. I enjoyed it then and thought I would still enjoy it now. Some episodes are very boring and some were really good. It's just okay. Might sell it on.

  • High quality colour Sci-Fi from 1970 by Gerry Anderson

UFO is a Gerry Anderson sci-fi TV series from 50 year ago. As the series was made on colour film, with very high production values for the TV of the time, the DVD compares well with modern sci-fi TV. Although the production values are not too dated, some of the behaviour and attitudes are. Women are dressed in skimpy uniforms and are mostly there for eye-candy. The only female officer is undermined by a plot line showing her decision-making is impaired by her emotions. In another episode she is reminded that, as an attractive woman, she need not take her job too seriously. There is also a lot of smoking and drinking. Nonetheless, this is a high quality guilty pleasure and piece of nostalgia for those of us who can remember the excitement of the Apollo missions and the social wierdness of the late 60's early 70's.

  • TV gold

I loved this series as a young teenager, and it's great to have it now on remastered DVDs. Of course it's dated, the characters always seem to be smoking and passing comments that would be today deemed a touch sexist. But hey this was the 70s, get your rose tinted glasses out and enjoy the genius of Gerry Anderson and the ensemble cast led by the late, great Ed Bishop. Marvellous!

  • Futuristic views from the 70s

UFO a Classic Series before political correctness, some episodes do vary in length and story plots, well, the script can be questionable at time, especially to reactions to situations. However; it is all good fun, when viewing the advanced technology and compared to our normal technology, such as the flashing lights, the reel-to-reel data machines (Computers taking up a whole studio). Want to feal old for those born in the 70s, check out the fashion, the wigs and the string vests and the short skirts. It also great to see men are men and women are women, how things have changed! The Set of DVDs x8 are of good quality

  • UFO

I'm at a certain age when you watch programmes like this it takes you wright back go your childhood, it brings back so many great memories, and bad ones lol,and the name's of people you forgot all sorts of things. I'm really enjoying the trip down memory lane, I watch a couple of the ufo series a night not to the amusement of my wife who thinks there rubbish, but I enjoy then .so thank you...

  • From better days

REally good TV series from an era before political correctness. Beautiful sexily dressed women, Thunderbirds style models and great stories. It loses focus in the last series being aimed more at drug taking adults rather than the 'kids' programme it starts out as. Well worth a watch.

  • Great entertainment, not to be mistaken as a kids show, watch out for the adult themes, Brilliant!

Great series from Gerry and Sylvia Anderson circ 1969 ITC / 1TV - great cast although originally scheduled early Sat evening entertainment this series mistaken as a kids show with actors instead of puppets - had adult themes with a late 60s early 70s feel.

  • Great old entertainment.

Dated but character development was good. For a 1970-1971 show it is quite good as each episode has a commentary on the human condition worked into storyline. Special effects are hockey for our times but are decent for back then. Lots of pre Space 1999 clues right down to music from Barry Gray. Nugget from the past.
