Overall better than it looks.
Overall better than it looks. The machine in operation is quiet and reliable. The instructions say not to oil and this reduces the maintenance of the machine. The instructions for use are straightforward and it stitches beautifully. I am probably used to something a little more sturdy. My old machine had a horizontal 'leg' at the back which supported the sewing table better when using the free arm mode. But when one gets used to it, there are no real problems.

Easy-ish!
I am pleased with this sewing machine- it is easy to thread the top and although the drop-in bobbin should be simple, i have found it can be a bit tricky to actually position the bobbin thread properly in order for it to pick up. I am also finding it hard to find the correct tension for each fabric...my old machine seemed to sew almost any fabric unless very thick or very thin.

Great little sewing machine
I've got a couple of these sewing machines, they're great to use, easy to set up & have multi function stitches. The price is fab. I recommend to beginners or novice seamstress' to purchase one of these as it's great as a first sewing machine or one that is compact too. It's not too heavy to move around & not too noisy either.

Ideal for beginners and experienced sewers.
For years I've done all my sewing by hand, in the past could never get on with sewing machines but after reading good reviews on this model I thought I'd give it a try. It is so easy to use especially the threading of needle and bobbin, lightweight but sturdy. I love it, in fact I'm spending too much time on it (must get some housework done). Ideal for beginners and experienced sewers.

Good value all round
It is many many years since I used a sewing machine so could be seen as a beginner. With a big project of recycling indoor cushions/pillows & making covers for outdoor furniture coupled with arthritis in both wrists; hand sewing is increasingly slow & painful, so decided to buy a machine. Looked at loads of machines & read lots of reviews & finally chose this Brother LS14s. Good price, quick delivery & well packaged. Lightweight & very easy to set up with dvd instruction for all stages & surprisingly easy to use. In my humble opinion... perfect for a beginner & would defo recommend.

Life saver
This machine is a life saver and very easy to use. It has great functions and comes with a CD that helps you use all the functions with ease. It is bigger than it looks and works on every single material that I used including jeans. I did a lot of reach prior to buying this item and can say great value for the price, you cannot get this quality with this price very often.

Instructions are easy to follow, many online examples if DVD cannot be followed. Compact in size and lovely looking as well. Would recommend to beginners like myself in terms of threading and filling bobbins. Light feature is very useful.

I’m very new to sewing on a sewing machine so was very happy and pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up - especially the Bobbin - iv used other machines in the past and just gave up with them - and they were singer and brother brands - and was very put of using a sewing machine for very many years but so far all is good and I hope it continues to perform as it does - so far I would recommend this machine to all new and lifelong machinists
