    Pretty good for the price

This arrived well packed and was a complete fixing kit. Unfortunately on our example the jockey bracket supplied did not allow the locking pin to go in until I had opened out the hole a little with the trusty Dremel. Our other jockey wheel is a different type so could not be removed and replaced by this one. We have a trailer weighing about 700kgs unladen, twin axle, and it moves this around on a flat hard surface pretty well. It helps if you take the weight off one axle using the height adjustment. Having heard dire stories from some about these things i was relieved. We have a slope on our drive which it coped with less well, but then it does say it will suffer on slopes. Giving it a helping hand seemed to do the trick though. We haven't tried it laden yet! We only want it to be able to move the trailer on relatively flat hard surfaces and I am reasonably confident this will do the trick. Given that the alternative is a "mover" at around £800 it is not bad.

Not as good as it looks

So I bought this in the hope it would help me move my boat around raised, not the case I did lots of research on the products even found a video of it in use, looked good. However This mover is not designed to move anything that has weight, the wheel just spins and does grip the surface very well at all. The build quality overall is pretty good, the connection point for the hang me to the mover is not so good, very cheap and already showing signs of fatigue. Save you money people.

  • Decent build, strong motor, does the job.

The item itself seems to be of decent construction & has good solide weight to it. The chunky tyres have deep treads for digging in & the motor is surprisingly strong. All the connections were good, solid connectors with decent cabling. The item itself is also very easy to control with the forward & backward buttons on the handle, leaving your other hand free to help push or pull the caravan if required. There are 2 reasons I rate this 4/5 however. The instruction manual diagrams are not very clear, for example, when assembling the control arm, the first step already shows it as assembled with no indication as to what bolts & nuts to use in order to assemble it. I managed to figure it out eventually for myself, but this was not helpful. The other reason is because the universal bracket it comes with for fitting & subsequently has a fitting for the lock provided, was just slightly off enough that I couldn't actually attach it to the frame of the chassis like I needed to, meaning instead, I've just had to use the old bracket, which also meant I couldn't use the provided lock. I think as it also requires a 12v lead acid battery to power (I.E a small car battery) which in itself is fine, however, it would be good if it came with the correct connectors to attach the power cable to the battery instead of just the small screwhole hoops. Getting the right connectors was cheap & easy, but if they were provided it would have been more convenient.

  • A great product

I bought this to push my box trailer around when I can’t use my van. I mounted this to my trailer this weekend but when I operate it the mounting bracket flexes way more than it should. So i have had to put a 6mm steel plate behind it to take out the flex before it damages the bracket or trailer

  • Life is easy

Having just put the unit to use after very easy assembly I was very impressed by the quality of the build the only extras I had to get were clips to attach to 12v battery. Works a dream and would recommend to anyone wanting a caravan/trailoer movef.....

  • Useless bracket causes stress to frame

I have experience with trailers and such gear, without a doubt the bracket that is supplied is completely useless. On a flat surface it is unable to deal with the lever force caused jockey stem whilst driving the power wheel anything close to perpendicular to the bolt mounts (with the clamp at lowest point close to wheel) As a result is the jockey stem tips from vertical by up to 20 degrees in turn causing additional stress to the trailer frame. This is going to cost me another £20 for a decent solid cast bracket with the hope it will fix it. This is not an out of the box solution.

  • Does a good job

Read the reviews and can see where other customers are coming from. Yes, it does "kick" a little in the clamp but it won't be difficult to wedge this and stop it if I think it's going to be an issue. The wheel will skip under certain conditions and I can certainly see it being a problem pulling up an incline BUT it requires weight on the wheel for grip and I guess that's where others are going wrong. If I had an incline I'd try to push rather than pull to put the weight on the wheel. When it has slipped on a surface with me I've put my weight on it and it has gained traction. There is plenty of torque so it will dig down on a loose surface so I put strip boards down for it to run over.

  • Immobile.

It is well made. However due to its design it is impossible to fit it to my ALKO Chassis on my Rapido. Club, as it is impossible to raise it high enough to clear the ground when towing. It is also very heavy. Frankly i cannot see how this is suitable for a normal size caravan. The wheels would have to be industrial size.

  • Good tool only problem and its a big one...

Good tool only problem and its a big one you have to remove when towing then refit when you get to your destination which is not ideal. When fitted toAframe jockey wheel does not lift high enough to tow with it fitted in place

  • User Review.

The jockey wheel is well made and looks good. I have an Abbey Spectrum twin axle caravan. It moves the caravan no problem, in my opinion the jockey wheel bracket could be a little heavier and the wheel a bit wider, and the locking pin nut should be welded to the inner plate. And finally I will have to put weight on to the wheel for grip. I will put the weight in the front storage department. Cheers E McCusker.
