my first saw the 12 inch compound miter saw worked trouble-free for 15 years

Solid and Easy to Adjust
It's hard to see why this clamp is three times the price of the 630065-00 which comes with the DWS780 Miter Saw until you see them side by side. This clamp is a brute and is thicker and more solid in every way and makes the original clamp look quite flimsy. The release lever on the threaded part is also a nice touch and an improvement over the previous design with a secondary release lock.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I have an older model i bought 8 years ago. It still works great. However, the improvements in this model is fantastic. The way the light marks the saw cut is awesome. Great saw, solid build, precision cuts + blade light is MUCH better than laser.
Tbe LED blade light is a fantastic add. I realize many will say it's not worth the extra cost for the 780, but I tell ya, EVERY single time you use the saw, you'll be thankful for it. There are kits and instructions for how to add a light to the 779 or other saws, but you'll end up spending nearly $100 and end up with something only close. Worth It
Spend the extra money and get the DWS780 not the cheaper DSW779. It is worth the difference in price. I'm hard on tools and the cheaper just does not hold up to abuse of the job. It's good to have a saw the cuts threw what ever you throw in front of it and stays on zero. Only down side is 12 inch blade cost. You get what you pay for.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
