Zeppelin watch 7680-1
Firstly a beautiful watch happy with the purchase.
This is the quartz version a Ronda movement, as with most quartz watches accuracy is not an issue, and given it’s a fraction of the price of the mechanical version it’s good value.
I’m happy with what I have but a few considerations
First the good, it’s a stunning looking design which with the breguet hands has a distinct times past look to it, the layout of the dial with the tachometer further enhances that historical look. Both the case and the glass add to that look with the glass being domed and the sides of the case having a raised ring almost Art Deco and nicely done. The fineness of the dial and detail is a nice difference from the chunky divers watch look with plenty of detail.
The in between things, Ronda movements come in several varieties with differing jewel counts, do your homework if you have an issue with this, but one has Swiss made parts and assembled elsewhere, the other is all Swiss with a few more jewels apparently.
The glass is mineral crystal not sapphire, so scratches can become an issue with the raised glass, however my take is this is a dress watch rather than a sports watch, so it’s less likely to be treated poorly.
Tachometer the accuracy is a second, there is no sub second dial or measurement, I think this is in step with its historical feel and I have no concern about subsplit second timing.
The bottom end as it were, not negative but nonetheless important,
The watch face is NOT white, in reality it’s a pearlescent silver, the face having a flatter appearance than the subdials which give that slight sunburst effect, actually nicer than white to me but it’s NOT white. The date is white.
The watchstrap, nice solid leather, but I suspect if you have big wrists it might not be what you want, as using the last hole looks a bit awkward, check before you buy
In finality this watch has a distinctive period look and is a nice option for those who want something a little bit different.
