It will fit Gretsch and many other humbucking pickup equipped guitars. These use a ceramic magnet rather than an Alnico V as used in the HS FilterTrons. They have more of that unique sound of the Gretsches heard on the recordings of the 60's.

  • Back them off a little for sweet, Crank them up for growl.

I love the way these pickups sound...clear but with a good break up when pushed. Pickups are a very subjective thing. So, I'd suggest that anyone try them out first, if possible to see if BT Filtertrons are their sound. I like all of the Filtertron styles. But the BTs have the best balance of naughty and nice for me. The Broadtrons that these replaced are fine pickups and have a brighter than average humbucker tone. But, the Blacktops were definitely an upgrade for me...and perfect (with slight mods to fit) for the G2655t that I installed them in. Recommended to anyone who wants the "Gretsch Sound."

  • Great Buy

I hot rodded an old twelve string into a Rickenbacher style 12 string awhile back. I wanted brighter pick ups without the hum so I tried blacktops and loved them. I recently obtained a Gretsch Electromatic hollowbody and though the pickups were just fine, they were a little darker than I prefer. So I put these in and voila! The Gretch sound! Blacktops are great little filtertrons without the higher price of a TV Jones and every bit as good IMO. The highs are bright, clear, and plenty snappy, while the lows growl with every stroke. Great little deal, these pick ups.

  • Couldn't be happier with either the pickups or the seller!

These pickups are ideal for me -- classic rock, blues and contemporary Christian music. They are wonderful clean but also overdrive with a velvety richness. I installed them in a 44 year old Explorer that my father built so didn't need the solderless feature, but as a standard install there were no troubles at all. Cost effective, great sound and a vintage cool aesthetic.

  • Great pickup

Very nice sounding pickup, used in the neck position of a Telecaster.

  • Sounds great(gretsch 5400)

Clearer high notes and slightly lower output than the broadtrons. Sounds more like gretsch than the stock broadtrons on a streamliner.
