    Old technolofy that works!

The Nikon D70 is not the most recent development in digital camera technology. It is nevertheless perfectly functional, allowing the production of quality images with the use of Nikon lenses. I acquired this one from a reliable dealer, herself an artist and photographer. I am very pleased to experience the use of a camera that, although oversized and heavy, can justify the reputation attributed to its manufacturer. I can't say I will be using this as my every day camera but it is certainly for the special moment when it will fit in as 'an objet d'art'.

    Oldy but ok

Although an older, earlier dslr the performance is not up to the latest ones 6 not 12 or24 Mps . No live view, playback on a small screen. But it’s a nice handful.and reasonable pictures. I enjoy using it

  • Good cheap backup.

Takes Nikon lenses, is cheap, versatile and although dated, provides good backup for main camera. Main drawback is that it requires special memory cards instead of SD cards. No video capability.

  • Cheap intro to DSLR photography

Although the camera has been out of production for several years and has a very modest pixel count (6.1 meg) it is still capable of very god quality photographs. I have always liked a view finder rather than composing on the back screen but have been put off by the costs. Buying this camera and initially using older Nikon lens that I had from film cameras I was able to get very presentable results. I am now adding to my lens with more modern versions that function with a DSLR and will eventually buy a more modern camera body when funds allow. At the moment there is no rush as the image quality I am getting is easily good enough to print up to A4 .

  • Great intro to digital photography.

Great intro to digital photography. Returning to photography after a couple of decades I went for a second hand Nikon that was cheap and I could use the lenses from my Nikon EM. Once I got a new battery and gave it a good clean it works great. Picture quality is OK for a 6 Megapixel camera.

  • A venerable, but still great camera

With its age approaching 15 years, D70 is still a great camera. Being in proper hands and coupled with a decent lens, it is still capable of producing wonderful images. I have used it for 5 years before selling, then recently bought one for a tiny fraction of its original price as my wife asked for something inexpensive to enter a world of photography. She was pretty amazed by what this camera can do! Good things stay good forever...

  • Nikon D70 Infrared: Good condition camera for the age, no dents or knocks. Seems well looked after.

This was a christmas present from my wife. So have only taken a few test shots in my garden to check all was ok. It makes sense to purchase second hand as infered camera conversion is not something you would do with a new camera. The cost of the camera is pretty much in line with what a conversion would cost. I already have Nikon equipment, so lenses and charger leads ertc I already have. 720nm was my prefered conversion.

  • Refreshing, and easy to obtain great results

Vintage , nice to re-connect with my 1st digital camera, This particular one was in super condition . Having owned Nikon lens and this camera will work with some expensive glass. Just a simple and joyous reunion with a simple camera. Also as the RAW files are small a modern PC with huge RAM copes editing very easily

  • The ir nikon

I use the camera With a tamron 18-200 mm lens and it works great and i get the photos like i want them. Autofocus works great and its easy to use. I have tried it With some other lenses and they also work great. I have tried nikon 70-200 2.8 and tamron 150-500. I also have à sigma 15-24 2.4 lens but i get à hot spot with this lens. I can tell you to try the ir photografy and start IT now in the summer. If you have à blue sky and à few clouds lots of sun and some water it will give you best photos.
