Following major dental surgery I had to go on a liquid diet and I thought I'd try a soup maker for the first time This MR total is without doubt the best kitchen gadget I've ever purchased. This soup maker is so easy to use. I love it! With a little oil it sautées mushrooms, onions and leeks to kick start the process. There is a choice of smooth, medium and chunky finishes to your soups. Once you've made your choice just leave the machine to do its thing. Smooth soup is ready in under 20 minutes. It keeps warm too. Cleaning is a doddle. Add water & a pea sized drop of your favourite detergent start the pre-clean function and just 4 minutes later the blade and bottom three-quarters of the stainless steel drum are clean. A wipe around the top and it's done. It also has useful reheat feature and blends in any forgotten items. It also makes milkshakes though I've not tried that yet. You control the portion size but when full I got 5 decent sized servings out of it. Highly recommended

  • Versatile and easy to use soup maker.

Easy to use. I especially like the sauté function. Good for sautéing onions and spices as a soup base. Like the fact you can just add ingredients and walk away. There is a choice of portion size which is handy if you don’t want to make too much. There is a also a choice of consistency from smooth to chunky. You can also manually blend as well. The only thing you need to be careful with after cooking is when you take off the lid, there is some condensation and some soup drips off from the blade. The electric connectors are on the top of the handle and are exposed when the lid is off so take care you don’t drip anything in to them. Size wise it’s not too bulky, it’s like an oversized kettle. I like using it for the convenience.

  • Great new model in this excellent line of soup makers

I have had a couple of Morphy Richards soup makers before and have always loved them. When they bring out a decent updated model I'll donate my current one to a friend and upgrade myself. I've moved from the Soup & Saute model, to this and I'm happy with my decision. I like the way the cannister lifts out of the body, which makes it easier to clean. The display and controls are easier to use and i like the fact it counts down in seconds, not just minutes, like my old model. I also found it is quieter in operation too, with the blending not being nearly as loud. The only thing I think my old model did better/easier was saute. There was a button on the handle to switch this function on and off, so you could keep the lid off and add things/stir etc. With this model you need the lid to be on for the heat to operate. You can take the lid off to add/stir, but the heating is disabled until you put the lid back on. Minor annoyance really, but can't see why they made this change as it makes it just a bit less user friendly. One thing they could do is provide a stand for the lid/blade so that when you need to take it off there's somewhere suitable to put it. Those things aside, it is an excellent soup maker and very easy to use. I love it.

  • Love it !

After a friend convinced me it was worth buying a soup maker because of the ease and speed I am a total convert . Just love the soup maker and everything it can do . The instructions are easy and I’d made my first batch within 30 minutes . The jug is heavy but it needs to be to cope with all the functions .The chunky setting is not as good for me in my soup making as the smooth which is superb .so usually do my veg soup which I like thicker on the chunky setting and then just blend for a few seconds extra to get the consistency I like .

  • Total control soup maker

So simple to use and much easier to clean than the older models thanks to the pre wash facility and removable liner. Love that you can adjust portion sizes. The only complaint I have is the chunky soups I have made have been a little to al dente.

  • lightweight with great features

This machine is so easy to use. You quite literally prepare your vegetables, or whatever you want to use in your soup, put it into the machine, select the portion size, and whether you want smooth or chunky, turn it on and leave it alone. It will do the rest for you. it will even keep your soup hot for you, and reheat if necessary. Not only that you can make smoothies and other drinks as well. I am so glad I bought this machine, because I can now have good nourishing meals with much less fuss. It also means that I eat my vegetables, which I never did before. Aren't I a good girl !!! I found nothing bad about this machine what so ever. I fully recommend it.

  • Indispensable

So easy, saute first, then soup. I use chunky setting then blend to a smooth or medium chunky. Outstanding results. Easy clean. 5 stars

  • Great kitchen gadget.

Great soup maker. Like having the saute function. Larger/taller than I expected it to be so it needs a deep shelf for storage. Simple to use and gives great results. Just what I wanted.

  • make soup well

Controls are intuitive and easy to use. Useful to have sauté and manual functions. Has cold capability for making smoothies and milkshakes. Soup was blended very well on smooth setting, Chunky soup was cooked well.

  • Rather heavy - cleaning a bit fiddly - but excellent and speedy soup

I found making a smooth soup very easy, but the chunky one turned out to be very lumpy and in the end it too became a smooth soup! I found the machine quite heavy for pouring and the soup dribbled down the front, meanng I had to wash the exterior section with care because it contains an electrical contact. I greatly liked the saute function and the ability to stop/start to add ingredients is also a very useful function. The speed of cooking is excelllent - from start to finish, the quickest soup I have ever made The cleaning function is more of a rinse, so the whole machine has to be carefully cleaned after use. Despite the complicaations, well worth buying and at the price I paid on Ebay, a bargain!
