  • Shutter speed and steady grip

I bounced around looking for different Canon cameras, reading reviews, and looking for a great deal. I love this camera. It is superior in so many ways to my Canon T1i. However, there are two main differences to me. First, shutter speed. This is my first semiprofessional camera and the shutter speed blew me away. I shoot a lot of sports photography and knew I was missing that one shot in the middle that I was looking for very time I took a burst of images with my T1i. Now I don’t miss as many. Second is the shutter sound. My T1i is loud this 50D is much quieter, at least to me it is. Quiet day on the golf course and a loud clack of a shutter does not make golfers happy even after the ball is gone. I love this 50D and can’t wait to see what I can do with it. It will be a fun journey. I also want to mention the complaints about weight of the camera. It is heavier to me in my hand. However, to me, weight means a more solid camera. A better built camera with quality. Also, I started photography way back when I started with a Pentax K1000. The weight I felt always helped me steady the camera. This Canon 50D feels steady in my hand and feels like I can steady the image much easier.

  • Great camera for a li'l price in 2023, and still decent in resolution, very great!.

It's similar of the 40D BUT totally different performance. except the 15mp resolution, the back screen resolution is incredible, the menus is deeper a bit of the 40D, it's a very very improved camera compared with my 40D, te 50D is a completely different beast, I not gained only 5mp of resolution with the DIGIC IV instead of DIGIC III in 40D, the pictures are very clean, but the camera 50D uses the same battery (BP511) and CF card, and other things the 40D uses. I LOVE THE 50D really!.

  • Good upgrade at an affordable price

My previous "semi-pro" Canon digital camera was a 20D bought in 2002 - it's obviously been passed by technologically in the last 22 years. Despite there being newer versions in the Canon APS-C line of 2-digit "semi-pro" cameras (the 20D-90D) I see the 50D as the pinnacle of the series. First off, the 10D-50D cameras were built to "pro" standards, with magnesium alloy bodies and professional features vs the more "amateur-oriented" plastic Rebel series. The 60D and later cameras changed to more plastic construction, and there was a general downgrading of the "pro" features and an increase in "amateur" features I'll not use. Also, (in my opinion) the later cameras have a lower level of construction quality. And while many people fawn over the latest high-megapixel sensors, in truth the 15.1 megapixels of the 50D is all I need. One can produce larger than 11x14 prints with 15 megapixels without resizing of the image, and with the software that is available at the professional labs I use for making my prints very good 30x40 prints are possible. In addition, 15.1 megapixels exceeds the capabilities of many lenses, so often the higher megapixel counts are wasted. Also, the quality of the pixels is just as important (maybe more important) than the number. The later cameras that crammed more and smaller pixels on the same size sensor changed the look of the images from the more film-like images produced by the 20D-50D cameras to something that appears more "digital" to my eye. Finally, the 50D was the last of the series to utilize the same Compact Flash memory cards and the same batteries that my 20D used, so all of those carried over to this camera. For me this older camera is in fact a perfect upgrade to retain the more film-like look I prefer and also utilize many of the accessories I already own. And it was extremely affordable - I ended up with a camera that is almost impossible to tell from new for a great price.

  • Great quality camera for the beginner as well as more expert.

This is my first DSLR camera. I feel that it is an easy camera to use and adjust all the features that makes taking pictures a lot of fun. This is an older model as I believe the new one is canon eos 90D but it is also about a $1000 and I paid $150.00 for this camera and I absolutely love the quality of this camera for as old that it is. The condition of the camera is mint and the seller was fast in shipping and it is a quality product. I recommend this camera for the beginner as well as someone that is more advanced in skill set. Beyond that, I need to use this camera more and I would be able to give a better perspective about the Canon EOS 50D .

  • One of the best used DSLR values available!

I've owned a couple of the Canon 50D's. If you don't need video on your DSLR, the 50D is a great option. I make 8 X 10 prints all the time and love them. In my opinion - and I've owned both - the 50D is worth the extra money vs the 40D. Same size camera, but the Digic IV processor seems to help me take better photos than the 40D's Digic III. The 50D is especially good for newbies who may not need all the bells and whistles (and cost) of the 60D, 70D, or the new 80D. Though the shutter is designed for 100,000 clicks or accuations, I suggest buying one that has the lowest count possible - the one I bought on Ebay had just under 13,000. Anything less than 25,000 would likely be OK. The Canon 50D is one of the best values on Ebay!

  • Great camera

I bought this camera for two purposes. For a backup wedding camera body and for my photo booth. It works great on my photobooth. It's probably more than a person needs for a photobooth but i got it for a great price and the camera was like brand new.

  • Great value and still current in many ways

I purchased this as a second body to my 6D. Image quality compares very favorably to the 6D. the 1.6 crop factor is useful for longer lenses.

  • Best camera I've ever used

I've been a photographer for over 10 years and this camera has the most user friendly features. It may not be the most megapixels but the images are phenomenal

  • Value for the price

Build quality is very good. Relaticvely small number of clicks on the body was a bonus. Many pro features. Larger sensor would be nice, but 15 MP is adequate
