A camera that may replace your entire gadget bag collection!
I lived photography for a large sloce of my professional life. Leicas, Rolleiflexes, Pentax, Bronica, finally settling on Nikons in 1972 with a large bag of accessories (flash, lenses, bellows, filters, viewfinders, meters, etc.). This Olympus SP590UZ is clearly smarter and more versatile than me and all of my film equipment combined! I aim and shoot and the camera does the rest! It fits my hand almost organically, weighs about half of what my Nikon Photomic Ftn weighs, and, with a 26-to-676 equivalent zoom range, replaces my four heavy lenses with one. My Nikons are great film cameras but this Olympus has moved me into the 21st century and restored my love for the art of light manipulation! It may take me some time to learn the instrument and to relearn all of the elements of fine photography but I'm very willing to move into the future with this super-camera. Who knew, in 1972, that Olympus would produce a camera that even does your darkroom trickery inside the camera! I am amazed! Excellent camera for the amateur user.
My dog devoured my first one in her first year - 2011. I have had several other cameras since, but I have been trying to get another one ever since. Bought this one for me, then I bought a second one I was lucky enough to find for a young lady just beginning in photography. I highly recommend this camera! It can be as complicated as you are skilled enough to need, but is light and easy to hold and anyone can use it without knowing photography. Great "old" digital camera with an actual viewfinder and takes uSD cards!
Great "old" digital camera. Takes uSD cards and has 12MP resolution with excellent zoom optics. One of the last of the affordable digital cameras with a "viewfinder" so you can actually see what an image by putting the camera to your eye! Also, this takes regular AA batteries. Olympus sp -590uz is a bargain
This camera hits The Sweet Spot of being not too old yet fairly current. It is a fully automatic camera however it is also fully manual. It has instructions built in the software and it can be updated internally also. The lens is final and cannot be upgraded but it is still a fabulous lens.
