I put in 2 CR2032 batteries, the meter worked immediately so no apparent internal damage. I then compared readings from my current Freestyle Optium Neo meter with this new one, both readings using the same blood source, so results were comparable. Current meter reading was 7.9mmol/L, new meter reading 8.1mmol/L, an acceptable difference between the 2. So v happy with purchase
