The most powerful CPU for the LGA1366 socket.

The W3690 is the fastest workstation processor for the LGA1366 socket. This one in particular is great. The idle temperature (6 core average) is around 30 degrees Celsius using an IC Graphite Thermal Pad and measured using the Open Hardware Monitor. I have other 2 W3690s and this is the one with the lowest idle temperature. I just installed it on a Dell Precision T3500 and works flawlessly.

  • Good upgrade from an i7-920

Upgraded my i7-920 with this. This may have bought a me a few more years on this X58 PC build (from late 2008 and its now late 2017). Maybe I'll stretch this desktop to 10+ years!? Your motherboard may need a bios update to support this CPU. I am running with stock heat sink from the i7-920 so far no problems. I am not OCing, but this CPU appears to be unlocked. This and a GTX-1060 6GB let me get 60fps (or more) in modern games with high / very high settings at 1080p. I am not gaming with either VR or 4K.

  • Mid 2010 Mac Pro Upgrade

I bought this processor to upgrade a Mid 2010 Mac Pro from a 3.2GHz Quad Core processor to this 3.46GHz Six Core processor. The upgrade took about 15 minutes to perform. I also have a 2TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD on a Sonnet Tempo PCIe card. I also upgraded my RAM from PC8500 to PC10600. My Geekbench 3 score with the quad was 2422 for single core and 9596 for multi core. After the processor upgrade, my Geekbench 3 score was 2840 for single and 16165 for multi. I definitely see a performance increase. I recommend this product to anyone that wants to extend their performance life on a Mid 2010 Mac Pro Quad Core machine.

  • Faster and unlocked.

This was an upgrade to my 10yo intel 1366 socket (B) PC that improved performance by 80% on its own. The cpu chip is also unlocked so it is possible to overclock it reliably to 4Ghz with good cooling easily. It is safe to say this is the fastest single CPU chip available for the 1366 architecture.

  • Great Upgrade and easy Install

Renewed my old i7 930 CPU. Install was a breeze. Had to reset clock as I was OC my i7. Once that was down, the 3690 started right up and wala, more speed. I then OC to 4GHz and normal cooler.
