        Improves over the length of the film

        The acting is a little stilted, especially the first half, but better in the second half, mainly due to the increased appearances of John Hurt, but everything improves. By the end we were drawn in to a captivating story. Which is true, incidentally. The Cathars were horribly persecuted.
