About this product

Product Information

Based on the 16 Myers Briggs Type Indicator personality types, this remarkable book does away with common misconceptions of what is normal. It explains why some people thrive on ambiguity while others need clarity; why some people are friendly and uninhibited while others are restrained and fastidious. Drawing on their experience as psychologists, career advisors, classroom teachers and organisation consultants, the authors apply the concepts of personality type to everyday situations: working, loving, parenting and communicating with friends and colleagues. They show how our personality preferences produce interpersonal blindspots that lead to misunderstandings, and offer practical tips for communicating more effectively with others.

  • How to begin to understand the different motivations for doing what we do.

It is a way of understanding very complicated issues in a relatively simple way. I'm not sure it is 100%true but it gives a way of exploring how we are different without being judgemental. It also does away with the catastrophic damage done by taking simple minded binary assessments like good /bad in favour of a spectrum of behaviours/responses. The second half is less useful than the first. It really helps with beginning to understand other people's motivations as well as our own!
