Gamers travel back to 1888 and take on the role of fiction's greatest detective as he tries to track down history's most notorious serial killer in this graphic adventure from developer Frogwares. A series of grisly prostitute murders leaves citizens in London's Whitechapel district terrified, and Sherlock Holmes is called in to find the culprit: a man the press has dubbed Jack the Ripper, who seemingly leaves behind no evidence and no clues as to his true identity. Players can switch between first-person and third-person perspectives as they navigate London's seamy underworld, scouring crime scenes for anything the police may have missed, interviewing locals, and interrogating mysterious suspects.

    Frogwares’ First Sherlock Game on Console

    Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper is the first of Frogwares’ series surrounding the eponymous detective available on Xbox. This is a crime solving puzzle game that has you walk through various parts of London, primarily Whitechapel, collecting clues and piecing together evidence around the ripper murders. The graphics are very poor on the Xbox 360 and look more like something you’d expect on a B-list game for the original Xbox. As this is a port of a PC game, you can toggle between run and walk; there is no progressive speed relative to how you move your joystick. The dialog is generally well written, although the voice acting leaves something to be desired. The game feels extremely dated for a title launched in 2009.
