About this product

Product Information

Marcus Valerius Aquila has scarcely landed in Britannia when he has to run for his life - condemned to dishonorable death by power-crazed emperor Commodus. The plan is to take a new name, serve in an obscure regiment on Hadrian's Wall and lie low until he can hope for justice. Then a rebel army sweeps down from the wastes north of the Wall, and Marcus has to prove he's hard enough to lead a century in the front line of a brutal, violent war.

    • Anthony Riches Wounds of Honour: v. 1 (Empire) Book

An exciting new series of "Roman Army" novels with this, being the first in the series, and using historical facts the author has written and exciting and involved story that will keep you enthralled for hours, finding it difficult to put the book down.

    • A Must

Compulsive - If you're a fan of Sword and Sandals - I couldn't put it down. Pitched a little generic for the purist, nevertheless, fast paced and compulsive I "raced" through a first-read, as is my norm, to be able to return at leisure.... So enthralling, I followed-up with 'Arrows of Fury' dispatched in two days and have now started on 'Fortress of Spears'. Haven't been so 'compelled' since being whipped before the mast by Bolitho, Fox and Fury ! Would make one helluva Film if it could afford to be made - cast of Thousands !

    • Tungrians advance.

Well written, it flows. A good šŸ‘, reflection, of the actual history at the time šŸ•°ļø. A very good šŸ‘, read.
