One of the first made for TV movies, this is a classic! It made a star out of Billy Dee Williams and cemented James Caan career as a leading man. The story of the friendship between Brian Piccolo and Gayle Sayers is so touching! And as an added bonus there is an interview with Gayle Sayers who passed away recently. 5 stars in all respects!!!!

This is an iconic football film about friendship,teamwork,sportsmanship and ultimately love . I bought it because I have seen it before . Two men as different as they could be by personality and race ( Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers) form a bond of friendship over their love for the game of football . Each in his own turn suffers a health issue and the other is there to support him in his time of need . There is actual game footage of them with The Chicago Bears . More than one man has shed a tear watching this buddy film and that's OK .This is an iconic football film about friendship,teamwork,sportsmanship and ultimately love . This is my favorite movie ever. It was made for tv in the 70’s when Blacks and Whites could tease each other about their differences and their stereotypes. No political correctness here, just fun and love and friendship between two football players of different races. Everyone today should watch this movie to see how it could be if we would stop with the hypersensitivity and hatred. The remake in the 90’s is terrible. This is my favorite movie ever.
