    Excellent Documentary

I have always been interested in American History and the exploration of the west. This Video done by Ken Burns is as excellent as all his others. Tells a great story of hardship and determination. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this one..

  • Westward Movement of Europeans in USA

Wonderful study of the western movement and its impact on indigenous Americans (a story that is often lost in presenttions of history of USA). Original documents and commentary very informative. Magnificent landscape photography. Interesting ideas presented which are also very relevant to history of Australian Europeans taking of the land, the impact of invasion on Aboriginal Australians.

  • A fine film brought together with words written in the past.

Journal entries very descriptive and discussion of these by narration was suitable. The task given these individuals was enormous and as usual, most humans will rise to daunting tasks if physically able. Good photograpy of the very difficult terrain they had to traverse backed everything up.

  • Journey of Discovery says it all.

Ken Burns is a superlative film maker. Much like his Civil War and Baseball productions it is very entertaining and informative. I highly recommend this film for all those interested in learning about the history of America and the westward expansion.

  • Great History Lesson

I learned a lot from this. The actual locations really brought history to life. I now understand how difficult that journey was. Great production.
