Used this device to try and repair the first two threads of a 5/8 UNF bar. It failed completely. Do not try and use one of these on hard steel. When clamped in place and rotated, it simply cut a threadd pattern into the back of the tool itself and did nothing to the damaged threads. Might be OK for mild steel or alloy but who knows?
