The Polk 255c-RT center speaker is part of the Polk Vanishing speaker series. It nearly has a 15-inch width and 10-inch length, so this component of a larger home theater system is meant to fit right into your ceiling or wall. In fact, the Polk 255c-RT speaker mounts inside the wall so that all that you see is the face rather than the speaker's body. Everyone will wonder where that dynamic sound is coming from as you turn up the volume on these two-way center-channel speakers.This center speaker gives you vibrant sound with dynamic directional effects when you have cables hooked to it from your receiver. The main bulk of this center speaker consists of two 5.25-inch woofers. They're made of polypropylene material so that any sound quality moving through the loudspeaker is as crisp as possible. These Polk 255c-RT in-wall speakers come with a unique venting design that forces air away from the dome woofers. Thus, any bass sounds within the frequency response range of 30Hz to 27kHz will create a crystal-clear effect.Between the Polk woofer configuration is the one-inch-wide tweeter. The tweeter swivels up to 15 degrees to give you more high-frequency control, off-axis imaging, and more options when placing the speaker above a bookshelf or other location. It's made of a polymer composite material so that this built-in treble creator can offer the clearest audio in the room. You'll enjoy timbre-matched ease with these Polk audio speakers because they can blend in with other electronics, including subwoofers. When you use other Polk speakers for either in-wall or in-ceiling installations, the timbre-matched audio technology will automatically adjust to a harmonic effect. You'll also cut out any excessive bass and get a clearer sound if there is any kind of disturbance from nearby walls. Installation is a breeze because this audio technology comes with a one-cut or drop-in design that works on nearly any wall or ceiling. This Polk technology is hardwired with cables extending from the back of the speakers. You can connect these cables to any form of audio technology since Polk dual systems were meant to be versatile within the marketplace. High-frequency sounds won't cause any reverberations within this unit because it has a magnetically secured grille that holds the entire system in place with cables that are hidden in the rear. Polk audio systems also come with a Perfect Fit template that streamlines any connection process. You may never see the bare speakers after installation in your home because this audio system comes with a sheer grille. This cover is designed to cover your center-channel speakers with as little clearance as possible. In fact, it only rises seven millimeters above the surrounding surface so that the sheer grille looks like it's part of the structure. You also have the option of painting these grille accessories, which contributes to their chameleon effect around the home.       Great buy, excellent quality.

      I looked at alot of speakers including the bottom of the barral bargin cheapies, but decided to pay the extra cost for good quality speakers, I used Polk Audio for my car and was satisfied, so now I applied them to my 5.1 home theater system and they sound great.

      Worth every penny

      I used this as a center channel for my entertainment system (5.2). I wanted the speaker centered with my wall mounted television, but with the stud layout within the walls...it wasn't an option for me. I used the ceiling mount option and centered over the television. It's mounted approximately 6" away from the ceiling joist (in the attic). There is a template with the speaker kit and it works perfectly. After cutting the hole in the ceiling, I installed the wiring and placed thermoplastic reinforced insulation over the back of the speaker. The finish trim looks great; white, powder coated metal screen. The screen is held securely in place with magnets. I love the sound so much, I'm considering replacing my satellite speakers with this model. Good value, nice speaker!
