Need not have worried “it’s brilliant”

When I enquired about hiring a small concrete breaker and discovered it would cost £60/day and I would need it over several days I explored the idea of buying one and found this one here on eBay for £57.99 I read the reviews and was quite impressed with how people said it had performed on their tasks, so I took the plunge and made my purchase - first impressions were it looks good, it’s heavy and feels well made and good quality etc but can it do the job ? I wanted it to dig out 2 old concrete fence posts and I also had to make 4 new holes through approx 4” of concrete to fit 4 new posts. Well “I need not have worried” it comes with 2 attachments 1/ a chisel tool and 2/ a pointed tool. It broke up the concrete extremely easy without shaking my arms to bits - the tool is quite heavy but ...

    • Very good for the price, highly recommended.

I bought this to put 3 concrete spur posts in. I was a little doubtful that it would be up to the job but am really happy to say it was. It has already paid me back the £60 so any more from now is a bonus. I also loved the fact I could take the handle off which enabled me to get deeper into the hole, it is also light enough to work with one hand, even though I am really aching now! The only negative for me was that there isn't an oil gauge, I searched everywhere for it but there isn't one and I'm still unsure if I have put enough oil in it. Otherwise I would have given this 5*.

    • Pleasantly surprised

I needed to dig a 12m channel through solid concrete on our backyard to fit some aco drainage. Stihl saw took care of the cutting but I needed something to jack hammer the concrete out with. When I first saw this I thought “no thanks, Chinese rubbish” but everything else is top end expensive. So I looked again and then read the reviews and in the end thought well for £50 what have I got to lose? It’s blooming fantastic, did a bang on job with no messing what’s so ever. If it packs up now it’s already paid for itself as I couldn’t have hired one for what it cost. I’m not saying they are all the same and some could be bad ones but the one I got has been banging away quite merrily all day and done what I wanted without any drama. So very happy bunny.

    • Good value for money.

OK so far so considered good value for money for infrequent DIY use. Only time will tell re reliability wrt being a quality product. Traditionally the old adage you get what you pay usually applies - hopefully I will be proved wrong in this instance. The suspicion is, if used on a regular daily basis its shortcomings whether it be the motor failure, excessive chisel wear or other would soon become evident.

    • Great value

Great value product. The manual is useless - appears it’s a bit of a partial rip of if another product and they’ve copied the manual from Hitachi but it’s all pretty easy to figure out. Used to remove several feet of concrete, demolish a wall and remove several concrete fence posts for slightly more than the cost of 48hrs hire. And I still have it for next time!!
